Q: VPNs.. will they do it this time?

I know it's one of those things you hear all the time, but what if it's for real this time?

www.reddit.com/r/China/comments/6mejey/China_tells_carriers_to_block_acc...

It would really suck for anyone living in the Guo if it's true, and would probably mean a mass foreigner exodus.

So today is supposed to be the day the axe falls.

Is everyone still happily watching Justin Bieber on youtube, facebooking their family and conducting...um...'research' on their favourite porno sites?

Hotwater:

Well I managed to access the latest cat photos on farcebook earlier today plus wat h a couple of YouTube links shared by friends.

Or perfectly though - my VPN has been regularly losing connection after 10-15 minutes for a few months baths. It’s bearable but can be frustrating some days

Should they, and i doubt they have the capability to successfully block the big name in the long run, there will probably be a lot of one-way tickets at Chinese New Year.

I have a wonderful VPN now, it runs 18 RMB a month and is well worth it. It is fast and has never caused me problems. I use an Ipad (or Ipads) and use the VPN service there.

The only two websites I use it for is YouTube and Facebook. To my chagrin, I like Facebook, even though as much as I like (American) Walmart, both Facebook and Walmart are odious in different ways. Youtube is fantastic, I get to see a lot of old movies, TV shows, documentaries, anything I like usually.

Twitter I know almost nothing about. Actually, I do have a Twitter account, but for some reason it has a problem with me using a VPN or whatever the deal is. The rest of it, couldnt care less. Censorship is cowardace as far as I am concerned. How can these two websites be any kind of threat is beyond my understanding.

If China is going to block stuff, block these fucking gambling websites. My (Chinese) wife is addicted to them, basically a live camera game of baccarat, 24/7, and to me it is like smoking crack, and this shit has turned her into a crackhead, and the dope man delivers. Maybe hypocritical with my last sentence in the previosu paragraph, but this gambling shit is ridiculous.

I think in the end, China will play their games and we will play our games and VPNs will never be stamped out. Actually most Chinese dont know Facebook and Youtube and couldnt care less about either, because they have their own similar websites.

VPN service providers will always find another way, just like blocked torrent sites, they always come back, but we gotta kind of look at it this way, the more we block and use cyber security features the smarter and more educated we're making hackers. Because we push them to the limit and they create God's and invent new ways to make evil work, and that means VPNs will be back even if one day all banned and blocked, it might have a new name like VPN~S. All we're doing is forcing them to become smarter and create ways to defeat the system that stops them thus the wrong people get their hands on the updates and infect more systems world wide. .

I pay good money for my VPN which works pretty much all of the time. I read that ALL VPNs will be banned by February 2018.

I think the government has decided on all or nothing... because allowing some is just not working. And I believe they will try to pull it because they make stupid decisions when it comes to censorship. If this new rule comes to fruitation, I have no choice but to leave permanently... which I suppose is exactly what they want when you think about it...

Get all the laowai and free-thinkers out of here... they cause trouble!

It's going to scare off the top foreign talent and businesses they say they're trying to attract too. Hopefully it's just more talk and will be quietly forgotten after a month or two.

Why block vpns?

can someone tell me please

I use face book youtube  and gmail thats not bad is it?

Stiggs:

To control what's said in the news, history, social media etc. so the harmonious society remains harmonious.

Google was banned because they wouldn't self censor their search results in China. Youtube has videos of things that 'didn't happen', facebook allows people to communicate (plot) freely and isn't controlled by Beijing.

My personal opinion is that it is related to the Nobel Prize winner and how much embarassment he caused the CCP.

Also, they say that terrorists use VPNs to communicate abroad.

And finally, I think Trump is displeased with China on how it is handling NK. I think America may be posturing for a war with NK and China is taking pre-emptive steps to control the media into China before this happens.

Official line now is that this was fake news. I doubt that.

Stiggs:

Yeah who knows.

My guess is that some official decided ( again) that access to the outside world is too potentially embarrassing or risky so declared the ban, but then the people who can't operate without access to the internet and who China depends on - businesses, investors, scientists, researchers etc made it known (again) what the consequences would be and the idea was shelved until the next time some official has the same brilliant idea.

A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
