Q: Want to apply for closing social insurance account and get my pension.

I am leaving China in two months. I found an information that according to article 5 of Interim Measures for Social Insurance System Coverage of Foreigners Working within the Territory of China, foreigner should hand in the application for closing the social insurance account to local social security in local Social Security Bureau which your last company belongs to. I asked an HR in my school and they checked with the official information bureau and gave me the list of documents i have to provide to get my pension back. That sounds pretty good though. Does anyone here knows anything if it really works like that here in China?

Yes it works. You get back what you paid in social insurance but not what your employer pays.

Why are you asking here if you’re be already been given the forms?

Wow, great article! I am already out of China, but I have all requested docs. except 'valid RP'.

I plan to return to China next year (with L) for short visit to my dentist. I'll might get my 8% out, too!
