I would be cautious about these red envelops. Although they are legit, it can also be abused by hackers to obtain your personal information. All they have to do is making a malware package with the red envelop appearance and when you click it, it will download the malware without you noticing. 

Nope, but the only monies in my WeChat wallet is from random hongbao'ers. 

I know someone who makes a living of getting wechat hongbao's, more then the average income where I live.
