Q: what are following rules for?
Are rules for to be followed equally or ignored changed tweaked bent or questioned making up our own rules as we go along? Then what do u have?
Rules are useful when you need to break the rules.
No rules, no challenge, no fun.
I worked many years in government ... the rules are explicit. we had total control, of contractors.
If we ever tried to enforce all the rules, nothing would have ever got done. I could break a contractor on a "whim".
so the answer is "yes", rules must be bent, broken, ignored and adjusted as situations arise. Prefer to call them Guidelines when administering a contract. The best solution for the people in my government position or the shareholders or employees in a private enterprise.
Many Rules and Laws have to be thought of as GUIDELINES.
make a mistake, you don't go to jail, you mitigate/lesson the error..
Criminal, violent or other many other "rules" or "laws" have to be held to a stricter criteria.
could go on and on and on..... EXCEPTIONS must be made. And if you believe the laws are perfecly written or really do cover their initial intent.... sorry dude, I do not think so.

Nobody can The 10 commandments were a guide even the jews in Moses time couldnt follow all 10 not even the holiest priest couldnt These 10 are a standard to start from thats why sacrifiing a perfect lamb was required in the OT A sacrifical lamb had to be perfect and all it did was cover sin not take it away unill christ in the NT did away with sacrificing burnt offerings

1. The original American colonists were Quakers fleeing religious persecution in their homeland. They landed on Plymouth Rock (or so it is said) and immediately started eradicating those pesky native pests. Question: Whose side was God on, the Quakers or the Native Americans?
2. Finally the new British Colony cleared the land to settle and grew dissatisfied with their king. This resulted in the Revolutionary War. It was a bloody mess, but in the end, the colonists triumphed. Question: During the Revolutionary War, whose side was God on?
3. Somewhere along the line, the Americans had the great idea of kidnapping Africans and using them as slave labor. They even used the Bible (thus God) to legitimize their ideas (hmm... I wonder why they didn't apply this interpretation of scripture when they rebelled against their King). This eventually resulted in another bloody war: The American Civil War. Question (a two parter): a:) Whose side was God on, the slaves or their masters? b:) Did God support the North or South in the Civil War?
4. Eventually, the USA grew into a formidable world power. They joined their ally England in fighting WWI, the bloodiest war up to that point (hmm. they're getting bloodier and bloodier). Question: What country was God with during this war and if God was against England during the Revolutionary War, did he flip flop during WWI?
5. WWI didn't solve the problem the first time, so we had to do it all over again. Question: Does that mean God was with the wrong country in the previous war? Was God with America for WWII?
I don't expect you to answer these questions, they are food for thought for those who can use their brains. But it's plain to see that America never had God to begin with. How can you kick out someone who wasn't there in the first place? Like most people who claim to be Christian, you lack basic knowledge of the Bible. You use the Bible as a pedestal instead of the purpose for which it was given us. Ignorance is a choice. You can do better, but before you can do so, you must first close your mouth.

And when, not if this happens to the stronger more strict law and rules then what happens to the lesser laws now? Rules are for your safety...if you do not follow them, your safety is at risk.
Do not confuse them with self-righteousness.
