Depending on availability, i vary my breakfast between local (steamed buns) and more conventional 'western' (toast - this depends on if i can source the bread). Which do you think is better for a long mornings work?
Western every time. The choice of a full English breakfast, cereals, hot freshly buttered toast, good coffee, pancakes with maple syrup, croissants, good jams and marmalade, fresh juice; these beat the Chinese offerings all the time. I do eat boadsi with a glass of cold milk when I am here, but when I go back west or staying in a decent hotel I make the most of it.
Breakfast is the same kind of stuff they eat for lunch and dinner. Sure, more often dumplings and noodles, but with the same hearty dinner flavours. I miss cornflakes and milk. Affordable cornflakes & milk.
They have some darn good beef curry baozi at this chain that operates around town. The ingredients are centrally made, then sent to the franchises where they make the actual baozi. Feesh and warm and (judging by the smell) clean. For 2 kuai a piece Ill take it any day of the week...but have to admit it would be better accompanied with a bowl of corn flakes cheerios and frooty pebbles with some good whole milk, plus a proper espresso.
Seriously? Western hands down. Toasted whole grain bread, scrambled eggs, fruit, and yogurt is not only far more delicious but also far more nutritious than any baozi, rice, or dumplings. Eating nutritious foods in a tier 88 is no easy task.
Western. I ate Chinese breakfasts for a while but the grease and savouryness just got to me after some time. I'd rather have a bowl of cereal or a muffin, or a cooked breakfast on weekends.
I like fresh food for breakfast so would have to say Western. But every so often a Tea egg, or erkuai is just what I want.
