Not being affluent or a Chinese woman I can only tell you what I've noticed (from when I worked freelance & had more time on my hands.
Yoga
Drinking tea/coffee with friends
Shopping
Beauty salons
More than likely similar things as affluent foreign women bit with Chinese characteristics
Go to work?
sorrel:
LOL
it was the aim of most of the girls i taught to find a rich husband so they would not have to work.
ScotsAlan:
Ha ha. Honestly, I know a few women with rich husbands who go to work. I even know one that has a nanny to look after her kids while she goes off in her Range Rover to work in an ordinary office job. We worked out it would her 8.5 years to earn enough money in her job to buy her car :O

I love it when young ladies marry a rich old man (50+) in China, they quickly make a baby to secure that wealth, the kid ends up having various problems (mental, genetic) due to the advanced age of the father. This is something that can't be fixed with all the money in the world.
Life is fair, somehow.
ScotsAlan:
The particular woman I mention above is the same age as her husband. A really nice woman. Sorry to dissapoint that not all affluent couples fall into your stereotype Eorthisio :)
Rich people in China became rich so quickly that their lifestyle is usually not much different from that of the common folks.
Beside the obvious fact that they have more money, don't need to work full time, go to more expensive restaurants/salons/bars/clubs/shops because they have more money, and that they drive more expensive cars, they are not any different from your average Zhou.
I don't mean that as a bad thing, I think it's actually a great thing.
Lord_hanson:
Perfect answer. Most of the rich Chinese are currently 1st generation rich. I am sure that the families that don't squander their wealth will develop their own culture as a more distinct class system reamurges from the ruins of the cutural revolution.
RandomGuy:
Considering China's pace I would tell most of them will be poor again in a decade of two. It's typical from developing economies to have many instant millionaires but as a country finishes its development most of those instant millionaires lose everything in a more competitive, more qualified economy, their money goes to fewer real entrepreneurs with real skills and knowledge. A fool and his money are soon parted, China is no exception.
From what I gather, the affluent women segregate into 2 types.
1) the affluent woman who has knowledge of life outside the middle kingdom and who is familiar with the hobbies and interests that people pursue in the mystic foreign-land. These women might take their kids to various extracurricular events, have lunch in western cafes, take dancing classes (with not much result) or boss around their many Ayis.
2) The second type is the typical Chinese SaJiao affluent women. They sit at home crying and bitching to their husbands about how their neighbor drives a NEW porche 4x4 whilst they are still stuck with the 2010 model. Their husbands are typical TuHao morons who have black teeth from smoking too many double happinies cigarettes and they amost certainly spend most of the time shagging their mistress who they rent an appartment for in the city centre.
It depends a lot on the means they use to get rich. At large, most spend (now they have more of it) even more time on guanxi building, to get richer by finding more backdoors.
The other task is to keep a watchful eye on their husbands who most likely are into their nth mistresses. The 'smarter' ones may have one eye closed although they fully know what is going on, making excuses to comfort themselves such as 'all men are like this when they are rich and successful' (needless to say they would deny realities such as existence of people like Bill Gates) . Yeah, some people are so 'smart' that they not only fool others, they also successfully fool themselves with 'critical' issues. This is especially the case when their afternoon tea with other financially rich wives at 5 star hotels come from their husbands' pocket, exchanging info and on the constant lookout for new useful new blood.
There are also those who can't keep an eye closed to their husbands' mistresses so the reciprocal approach is adopted. This is where the lover boy (toy to be accurate) comes in. Now the keel is even. Keep smiling for that family photo....FACE!
You can say, 'this is the same everywhere'. Not so, in developed countries, at least rich wives hover around charity organizations, become board of directors at all kinds of schools, horse racing clubs.....you name it. At the very least, Judeo-Christianity has laid a solid foundation for charity work in the West. We all know what kind of god the majority of mainlanders worship.....
How about rich, single women? Same, it depends on the means they use to get financially rich. P.S. Driving an Audi or BMW is definitely not the mark of affluence in PRC given the extent of corruption.
The basic difference is that being bone idle and useless is frowned upon in the west and the wealthy in the west make up usually bs stories about how much of a 'work ethic' or how hard they had to work 'to get the success they now enjoy'.
In China being lazy and useless is less frowned upon as this was how the Emperor behaved and how all the govt douches behave so is much more looked up to. Being wealthy and incredibly lazy and ordering others round like a spiteful bully seems to be the state of Nirvana in the Han Chinese mindset.
So this is basically how most wealthy Chinese women behave. They do nothing and are useless other than ordering other people around and behaving as though they deserve everything their corrupt hubby provided them.
