Q: What happens if you lose your temporary residence slip?

Can you get a replacement or do you have to pay a fine? That little piece of paper is so easy to lose!

You just back to your local police station asap with your passport and a helpless smile on your face. They should print out a new one for you no problem.

Well, I've never had this little slip of paper. Just the resident permit in my passport. Could be because my employeer holds on to it. But, local police authorities will give you no problem. Would be nice of you to go and get a gift card with 100rmb on it. They will try not to accept it, but force it on them, it's the Chinese way. You'll be suprised just how fast they will help you without a fine.

This is an old thread but I have just come across it through a site link and it could equally be applicable to other people with a legal issue in future.

In reply to techezee's post, I am sure that giving a 100 rmb gift card to the police might be the Chinese way but I am not sure if it is either morally or legally correct. What if the police take it the wrong way and you end up looking at a much worse charge?

I misplaced mine sometime last year, the wife made a bigger deal about it than the people at the police station.

Nothing happens,  unless someone asks to see it.  I've never been asked to produce this paper for any random ID check.  I usually only need this paper when renewing my residence permit.  Also needed it for applying for my Chinese driving license.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
