What is the limit and what happens if you have more? I think it is two litres but I'm not sure as I have never had my checked in bags opened on entry. Can I put 1/2 a dozen bottles of red wine in my luggage becuse it is quite expensive for decent wine in China and then buy two bottles of duty free Burbon or Scotch at Sydney airport to hand carry in?
Do it at your own risk, I can't understand why people here, ask for legal advice for this sort of thing, duty is duty, and it is written on the entry cards for declaration!
ive only had my bags scanned once when leaving the airport entering China, you can try it but you risk losing the wine or paying the tax....
both times when i came to china thye never checked and i never declared them.

This one is useful as well.
12 bottles is a bit much. Do it at your own risk. I suggest you start drinking a few now.
