Q: What makes you not wear a mask back in your homecountry at this moment?

I could be wrong but from what I read or saw on the news, most of y'all still don't wanna wear a protective mask in your homecountry.

No reason to panic! They say.

I'm scratching my head here. Really?? Is it too big an offense to be wearing a mask while walking on the street?

I think maybe people are embarrased to wear masks in my country because it's not a cultural norm. I'm not sure. But man, they should be wearing masks.

I absolutely abhor wearinfg the mask inside places. I call it a "face bra". From my breath it makes my mouth hot, it feels silly, and I just resent having to wear the damn thing. I never wear it outside in public. I also HATE THE TERM “social distancing" with a passion, I dont like it when they have to give a term to something, but if I am near people or if I am in a crowded place (like the subway the other day) I will wear it.

I am American and America isnt China. It is much more difficult for the government to tell people "Stay Home'. I also hate this advice because most people have to be employed and their job is their lifeline to existance. I would love to stay home, watch YouTube, smoke pot all day, eat, read, sleep, fuck my wife, play with my phone and watch movies, but my money will run out and I will be homeless. No good to stay home if you are going to be homeless. Not everyone has a lifeline or friends, parents or relatives to float them for a time.

A lot of Americans at first rebelled at this thinking that this was just "the flu" and a horrendous overreaction, and there were thousands of kids at Spring Break in Florida living it up, and people outside in the parks and doing other things. It's not the Authoritarian China who tells their citizens to STAY HOME and we stay home.

Probably my mask habits would be the same in America as here, but probably in America I would actually try to stay away from other people as much as possible. To me, this is the true misery of all of this, to stay away from other people, we people are social beings who need to be with others, and this comes from someone who is slightly misanthropic.

The Way Droplets Spread In Air, Captured Using Advanced Cameras By Scientists In Japan

https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/uS2iIXXaBIWft3Y0KlSjsQ

In Mandarin/Japanese but you can easily understand the video.

Wow! Japanese ideas are so clever, innovative and original. What do you say? We should praise them for their efforts in selflessly sharing information which will help everyone overcome this epidemic, where they could have just as easily kept it to themselves and lied. But that is not their culture thankfully.

In my home country of Denmark it is illigal to cover ones face in public.

Also, masks are for healthcare professionals. There is no real evidence it works to prevent the spread. An N95 mask does prevent you from breathing in particles, or coughing them out, but does not prevent you from touching flat surfaces and licking yor fingers while not wearing it

sorrel:

the same here.

masks are for health-care professionals.

if you are sick, you don't go out, so you don't cough or sneeze on anyone.

if you are well, you only go out if necessary - and you keep your distance from others.

So like I previously commented, there seems to be different views about a mask's functionality. In China people wear a mask mainly to prevent outside things from reaching the throats (dirty air, other ill people, pollens etc) and usually we don't shun from those who wear one on the streets. But maybe after COVID19 the view will have changed a little.

@ WnagNan

given the over-whelming need for medical professionals to use these masks on a daily basis at the moment, ordinary people using them when not needed is a criminal waste.

@Sorrel In a culture whose sole motivation for almost everything is "Me, Me, Me!". The desire to wear them frivolously is hardly surprising. In addition, my sister who not only is leading the virus response in my hometown but also working on the front line spends her off duty time making masks for her team to wear because after the Chinese companies hoarded almost all supplies through December and January then shipped to China by private jet, there are simply none to be had. Feel free to watch the 60 Minutes story about this or peruse one of the countless news stories, or even the social media pages of the companies involved who have posted photos and video gloating about it. Apparently, some products which were packaged to be sold only in our country have begun to filter back through import channels at twice their normal retail price. Again, this is from my sister who is in a position to know.

According to WHO Guidelines:

If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection.Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.

Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.

wearing a face-mask is public, it has been suggested, gives a false sense of security, and makes people more likely to ignore social distancing and wash hands less frequently.

it is simple, if you don't need to wear a mask, don't.

To do so is to waste those that may be needed by health-care professionals.

It's not rocket science people - it also helps reduce the amount of waste being generated by pointless mask-wearing.

https://www.zerohedge.com/health/world-war-z-dead-patient-infects-medica...

It should now make sense why China was so adamant in cremating bodies as the fast-spreading virus terrorized Wuhan earlier this year. That is because, a new report published on April 11 says a medical examiner recently passed away after contracting COVID-19 from a corpse.

The incident took place in Bangkok, Thailand, at an unknown date, when a medical worker was infected with the virus after conducting tests on a COVID-19 corpse, the study said, which was recently published in the Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine.

The death of the medical examiner "is the first report on COVID-19 infection and death among medical personnel in a Forensic Medicine unit," according to the authors.

Authors Won Sriwijitalai and Viroj Wiwanitkit wrote in the journal that forensic medical professionals must wear a "protective suit, gloves, goggles, a cap, and a mask" while operating on COVID-19 corpses.

"There is a low chance of forensic medicine professionals coming into contact with infected patients, but they can have contact with biological samples and corpses," they explained.

The authors also suggested that the same disinfection protocols used in operating rooms must be applied to forensic units.

In the US, the dead are piling up at hospitals across the country. By Wednesday morning (April 14), total COVID-19 deaths have topped nearly 26,000 – leaving morgue storage capacity at many hospitals overflowing with bodies. Refrigerated trailers have been called in to increase storage at some facilities, specifically in New York City and Detroit

And maybe there are some uncanny parallels of today's COVID-19 pandemic and with the 2013 movie "World War Z"…

I remember, at the beginning of outbreak in Wahun, I was wondering why do they incinerate the bodies. I couldn't buy convenience/practicality reason, so I searched for Black death epidemy in the beginning of the century. ... they had to incinerate the bodies at that time, too.

... and now, 3M later that came out.

Now looking back at the whole event, and with the current Delta variant surging, will you opt for masks or vaccine or both, or neither of them?

I use the same mask for 3-months or so, stored in my back jeans pocket ... and as I enter the shop, I pull mask out only after I see first person in the joint with muzzle on.

I mean, I don't remember, but I do it 'cause other people have it.

However, I've never enter the bank without muzzle stuck up my nose ...

Now they know the shot is just a shot and not a vaccine, I'm O negative and not overweight, and been exposed to 17 cases so far of Covid, I'm still walking the earth.

Political correctness has taken over America, 78 percent of the deaths under 60 were folks obese with a BMI over 25, so they should be telling fat people to get a shot, but they want. Don't tell anybody O negative have antibodies or employers will only hire them I suppose.
