My recent job experience went something like this and any advice on it would be welcome also I won’t mention names or the organisation therefore will use pseudonyms instead.
Last month I saw a teaching position advertisement and applied as I want a change of scenery, soon enough got a response via email, text and phone call. In a two week period we kept in touch and I sent the required documents and was formally interviewed via the telephone so the manager of the company could hear my native English and long story short I got the job hooray.
Anyway I was invited to come and sign the paperwork at the HQ and the company is legit, the manager Jane also wanted to meet me and made time from her busy schedule so off I went all suited and booted. I went via security the office was very impressive with all the fancy furniture and showy stuff, I even managed to meet a few of the native teachers in the corridor and had the foreign chit chat exchange and was waiting for Jane. Well Jane (youngish female in a designer suit) came in and within a few seconds of looking at me and said “You are Lisa” she turned around, left the room and sent another person to meet me instead. The assistant Rita looked slightly nervous (not sure who she was) we had a good talk and at the end no contract was signed which was odd but Rita said she would get in touch later on as they were incredibly busy and have to draw up individual contract for all the new teachers.
I left the interview and bear in mind everything was going great before meeting Jane in person the company was mighty impressed with all my experience, qualifications and commitment to the job as I have been with my current employer for many years and have progressed quite well on the career ladder. I waited for a week and in the second week I contacted the company for feedback and what the outcome was and now more than four weeks later no response, Jane who was phoning/texting me every second day before meeting me has not been in touch at all and that particular company are still looking for teachers. Now the only thing I didn’t do neither was asked for before the meeting was send a photograph, once Jane heard my native English she didn’t even ask for a photo and directly asked me to visit the HQ to discuss salary, hours etc… Now I am a native speaker and am dark skinned which could be a factor as I found it so offensive that Jane looked at me and turned around within seconds I am not stupid your instincts kick in. So I decided to see if I could suss out what the heck happened, one of my friends contacted Jane for a teaching position and met her who happened to make time for him the next day and basically gave him the job and was going to write up his contract, she was offering him a very lucrative position, he has no teaching experience and is Caucasian. (He didn’t mess the company about and told them that he has another job offer and Jane seemed quite disappointed and told him to ask his friends to join the company oh the irony that I am his friend)
I know this is China and accept warts and all but sometimes these things annoy the heck out of me, everyday in my current job I have to prove myself to parents, managers, others and not to brag but I always win them over because I am damn good at what I do and most importantly I am a good human being. I wanted to go back and see Jane at the HQ but I couldn’t get past security, maybe I am wrong it could be nothing to do with my skin colour maybe it is something else but imagine how you would feel when someone offers you something and takes one look at you and walks away. The worse part for me is that the company/Jane have not contacted me at all not even to say I didn’t get the job Jane if you are reading this then at least let me know that the answer is no for goodness sake!!!!!
Spoiler alert: petty passive aggressive answer.
Get your Caucasian friend, who was offered the job by Jane, to email her thanking her for the job offer, but then informing Jane that he was 'disappointed' by Jane's treatment of you (yes, he knows you and the schools treatment of you), and that he will advise others that they can not expect professional treatment from this school.
You would do well to advertise the name of this school so as others will be warned that this is how they will be treated by Jane and Rita.
If i am approached by any of these scammers and racists, i have no problem posting their names online to warn others.
All you can do is move on and hope that your shameful and shabby treatment won't be repeated by the next place you apply for.
but we all know TIC and they stupidly believe that a white face is better than a professional. They are the ones who are going to lower standards with this attitude, not the professionals.
good luck with your next place.

Yes, do what Sorrel has written!
Don't expect answer from Chinese Co. as you're use to it in West. Chinese just stop communicating for this or that reason.
Face to face promises in China are forgotten even at the Co. you're still employed.
Move on and good luck!

It was about racism, plain and simple.
Chinese can be either blatantly racist (like pointing at certain people and making disgustingly ignorant comments)... But nobody thinks is racist because to them, these remarks are considered "facts". Or you run into the type like "Jane". She knows about racism but can't admit it because she knows others (other foreign teachers) will frown upon their practices and will simply not admit it. It is next to impossible.
She may not be racist herself (most likely she is by her reaction) but she knows that the masses of Chinese are... and they are shallow. It is too bad companies like hers do not give people more chances to show the Chinese that their stereotypes are wrong.
It is unfortunate that you had to endure this as it seems like you wanted to work there. I highly suggest in the future you send a photographs beforehand with your resume. Sorrel's suggestion, as always, was very good and it may work but a company won't change unless their clientele's mindset changes.
China still has a long way to go. With your qualifications you will find something... a school is a reflection of their leadership. They may have been all kind to lure you in but you probably dodged a bullet.

Chinese logic when it comes to racism, if it is criticism or anything negative directed at a Chinese person for any reason by a non- chinese then it is racism. Example, me, "this bus driver is awful"; Chinese idiot, "Why do you hate Chinese people?"
check out this commercial http://www.vox.com/2016/5/26/11785124/china-laundry-detergent-racist-qiaobi?yptr=yahoo

I am waiting for a response from a possible spammer
Yes - i am still being spammed despite not looking for a new position.
I'll give the 'company' another 24 hours before posting their name

Meh, I dunno. Not trying to be picky here, buuuuut, Is it really that bad to get job adverts? I mean, the reason you're receiving them is because your e-mal is posted somewhere. The practical solution is to either delete the e-mail address ( bad option, it may divert the offers to your phone instead) or to change it to a different e-mail which you can use just for job offers. That way when you're actually looking, you could just open up that inbox instead.
sorrel:
i have had both the email and phone number deleted for the last few years.
I suggest any spammer tries at the following address:
