Q: What would you like to see on ECC ?

There is no denying the site needs a makeover and it is encouraging that it was mentioned Admin is looking for a professional to join them.
Now we know this subject has been brought many times before, however this may be our best chance to do something before the site just becomes one of those places we used to visit.
We use this site to find andwers to our daily issues in regards China but it has occurred to me we don't always hear about things till its well after its happend.
So with that in mind What information would make your daily life easier?
A what's on category for upcoming events and expos?
Travel deals?
Best child care reviews?
Bands playing in different clubs
How many times have you seen a review of a event that you didn't know existed till well after it finished?
Im trying to do my bit as a user of this site but it is going to take all of us to achieve a good outcome.
So even if you are a guest , please log on and put your suggestions and support behind this effort to rebuild our site.
thanks for taking the time to read this

I do suppose that a section dedicated to big events would be interesting, as well as upcoming events for each town would be pretty useful.

A mobile version of the site would be great, since this is definitely the kind of website I would visit regularly again if I could check it on the bus. That's my biggest request.

An overhaul of the design wouldn't hurt either, half of my screen goes unused while the home page is a mess. It's also starting to look kind of outdated as a whole...

Mr_spoon:

Also something I noticed: other sections of the site load at regular speeds from Europe, while the Answers section is extremely slow (answer servers are hosted in China?).

Not a huge issue, but still somewhat annoying at times.

i know its impossible its wishful thinking but how about a more human feature instead of a cold unfeeling site? Faster replies and no more digging up old posts repackaging them just to fill empty spaces trying to keep things going?

philbravery:

The only way we will get faster replies is if more people start  using the site.

As for the format that is up to Admin to fix .

But both good points you raised .

Can you think of any colums or other additions we could ask admin to do ?

It has been bought up before but....A news section as a part of the answers section.

Actually, what I'd love to see is something similar to the old China Smack website, where they took current news and translated Chinese readers online comments. It's probably not very feasible for ECC but if they were looking a way to diversify ... China Smack seemed to be very popular and they just stopped doing their thing. Maybe ECC could look at hiring a few translators and taking up where CS left off.

estern had a great idea with his photos ,

How about a Photo's of China site or photo comp to get things moving .

Ecc had the Blog comp a couple of years ago.

And also it would be nice if Admin showed some interest in this forum and let us know they have read this post .

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
