Q: Whats the deal with 11/11/2011 in China?
Its a big day for weddings... or something? Is this a China thing or an international thing as well?
In itself, this date has nothing in particular.
However, for Chinese, when numbers sequence themselves with the same numbers, it is often considered a day of good fortune, especially for couple celebrating their wedding.
It's like 09/09/2009, 07/07/2007, etc....
it is a big day for···bachelor! "1" means you are alone, "11"means everyone alone. so every year chinese yong men call "November 11 "is "光棍节(guang gun jie)". it is a informal festival, people made it only for fun.
光棍：the people who has no girlfriend or boyfriend，especiall point to men.
It is also a day where 1 and 1 come together to be 2. They also call it singles day because of all the 1's.
It's singles day duhhh ! My students tell me it's a big night for one night stands
