It's real hot here where I am and the sweat is trickling down my back. However....no a/c for me, as per my protocol.
What do you do to keep cool at this time of the year?
How hot is it?
AC in my office to AC in my car to AC in my home. To hell with the bills, the environment and to money. Im Canadian, I cant deal with this damn humidity.
ScotsAlan:
Yup. Its the humidity that is the killer. In fact, heat is a killer too. See all the deaths in Pakistan from heat at the moment. Terrible.
I have A/C at workplace but no normal or cold water, which perhaps is more cruel than not having A/C. I spend more on cold water these days than the employer spends on A/C.
A/C in the office, then A/C when I'm at home. Why wouldn't you turn on the A/C?
I have A/C in the office and in the classroom, however after 10' walk to the school, I'm sweating for half an hour before the class.
My home has also A/C, but I prefer open windows (and dust in the air), when is below 30*C. Utilities are included in housing.
It's raining currently, some +20*C.

The spastics at my school regularly have the classroom a/c going full bore and leave the windows open.
Despite my best efforts they fail to understand the stupidity of this.

Chinese don't understand AC, and they aren't 'intimidated' with the electricity bill.
They don't understand that new passport with different serial no. replaced an old passport, either.
I just returned from BOC. I had paper with text in Chinese characters: '1. I need my balance (deposits & withdrawals) since inception of the Bank's account (Sep. 2014) printed, pls; 2. I want e-banking set-up on my BOC account'.
After an hour and half at the Bank, they just asked me for my phone no.
The problem is, new passport has different no. than old passport.
They asked me for the old passport. I had to return home, and bring them an old passport, which I'm not sure why I still have.
Q: 'Why old passport has holes drilled through and missing corners on the 1st page?'.
'Ma'm, it's not valid anymore. It belongs to the garbage container since 6 m ago!'
I suggested, they should change their records with the new passport details !?? Maybe?
'No, we'll call you.'
OR-R-R.....'reaching with the R hand to the L pocket, around the ass...that's it....'
Cold shower and scotch/rocks next.
I marvel at the big stores here.... you can feel the A/C standing 50 feet ( no joke, at least) outside in front of the big open doors. my wife bitches when I have it on for an hour, midday. ( she pays the bills).
On in the bedroom fullstop if I am in the house. Rest of the house is left to nature wife the wife and MIL lounging. I stay in bedroom.
In fact, just back from taking the daughter out to the shop, got back, bedroom aircon off. All that lovely coldness gone. Now have to cool everything again to get back to thermal steady state.
I bailed out.

In Queesland ac is my life line
In nth east China i can manage with out it
Really? I haven't turned my AC on this summer yet. It's getting close though. But a fan is much cheaper.
Today's forecast is for 38c and it feels like that now. But, as per protocol, no a/c.
I'm getting the fan benefit now. Later on I might throw a wet towel over myself.
We don't have humidity out here in the desert so it just feels like an oven.
I think it's quite spectacular living in a place that has a temp span of -38 to +38.
I want to go for a bike ride but will probably pike out just like I did yesterday.
