Q: Where can I buy a good map of Changsha?

I already have "The Tour and Transportation Map of Changsha" but it's not very good.  It doesn't have all of the streets on it and it's not very detailed, not very helpful for finding my way around.  A couple of years ago, when I was last in Changsha I saw a really good map which was detailed (showing all the streets) and even had the bus route numbers shown on it to help you plan your route.  The trouble is, I've been here a month now and I can't find anywhere that sells a good map like that.  I don't even know where to look.  Would I find that kind of thing in a bookshop, in a bus or train station...?

I have no trouble reading characters so there's no need for any map you might suggest to have pinyin or English on it.

I'm living in halls of residence and receiving post here has proven to be something of a challenge so it would be helpful if someone could suggest somewhere I could go and buy a map rather than a website that'd be great.

Any help finding a decent map would be appreciated.

On the corner of Furong Rd. and Jia Fang Rd, there is a XinHua bookstore. You can park under the overpass, which is Jia Fang Rd. It will cost you 5RMB to park. Go to the third floor, and at the top of the stairs, turn left. Proceed past the art books section (on the left), and right behind the wall, there is a map section, with city, province, and national maps, both in Chinese and English.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
