The above links are slightly outdated now. Sure, M&M vintage is the best vintage shop in Beijing but there have been a couple of newcomers since. There's one on Wudaoying Hutong called Old News Vintage Boutique. It's on the expensive side but most of the stuff is genuine, good quality vintage from Europe.

Tue-Sun 2-10pm. 78 Wudaoying Hutong (just west of Vineyard Cafe), Dongcheng District (136 2135 8442)
东城区东城区五道营胡同78号

There are also a couple of new ones along gulou dongdajie. Just stroll along the street and you'll pass a few.

I would just look on Taobao. There's a huge selection of vintage clothes and accessories on offer there and a lot of the stock comes from HK, Korea or Japan so you know you're going to get trendy styles and decent quality.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
