Jinan University runs a full time Chinese course for foreigners. As far as I know you study only morning, 5 days a week.

Theyre re supposed to have a good reputation.

I've got a friend working there legally. Oral English...claims he's only on 7K/month but very low hours.

Jinan also has one of the larger and more active 'English Corners' in GZ. I haven't been in a year but I've heard they're still very active.

Have you been in contact with your local Chinese consulate, as they will probably have more exact information that means you can then focus your search more and ask about specific colleges.

Your best option is to do a search online of all the colleges, as there might be some that don't accept foreign students.

also you know your budget - by saying 'not expensive' does not give any idea how much you can spend per academic year - do you intend to live on or off campus?

Also, do you intend to study something else at the same time as learn Chinese?

Have you thought about any other city in China?

you are probably too late to enroll for this academic year, as you probably don't even have a visa.

Bottom line - contact your local Chinese consulate and get as much information from them first, then you can ask more specific questions here.

(few if any of the posters here might even be in Guangzhou)

There's at least two posters in Guangzhou. Myself & ScotsAlan. Maybe more lurking?

@hotwater

saw your comment below.

the OP also says 'not expensive' (for Russia) which could mean anything

if i was researching a place to study in a foreign country, my first port of call would be the relevant consulate (they would probably have information on costs incurred for various locations), so i could then be more specific and focused in my subsequent searches.

Rather than necessitate information being dragged out, it is the logical approach.

I know a Russian speakiing Ukrainian girl studying Chinese in GZ.

She is on my wechat. I think she studies at Sun Yat Sen Uni.

Send me a pm with your wechat and I will introoduce you.

Also, use wechat to get all the GZ news channels. A new Russian restaurant opened today. Maybe some of the staff are students.

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). They have 8 different levels of classes. The teachers are OK. Classes are 5 days a week, mornings or afternoons.

The campus is really nice with lots of trees. The foreigner classrooms are nice and have aircon.

A lot of foreigners study Chinese there, and also the MBA.

The admin staff are helpful with visa issues.

The Chinese students are friendly and lots speak excellent English (they are studying it!)

You can live in an apartment block outside the University, or live in the dorms.

The neighbourhood is OK but it's a long bus ride to downtown or a 20 minute walk to the metro. It's quite cheap to live there compared to the rest of Guangzhou.

It's also very humid and rains a lot.

If you can find university which accept you , they can apply a study visa for you, or you only can apply for the working visa which you can also stay here for one year, but expensive

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
