Q: Which restaurants in Shanghai would you highly recommend?

Since, I'm not familiar with any of the restaurants they have there..has anybody been to Shanghai that can recommend a nice restaurant to go to?

I've always been partial to McDonalds. KFC is fine if you don't mind mixing with the plebs.

mattaya:

I prefer Mcd's over KFC! Too bad you can't get free refills at Mcd's here...at least at Subway you can get free refills.

What type of food?  Shanghai has a ton of decent places, plus lots of western imports:

Krispy Kreme donuts, Carl's Jr., NY Style Pizza, ACTUAL steakhouses, Bubba's Texas BBQ...

Let me know some specifics of what you're looking for and I can tell you

I haven't been too impressed with the food here, but there is a decent Japanese restaurant called Ichidori-Ashi which is behind the Cloud 9 shopping center at Zhongshan park station. Pretty hard to find but I was very surprised. It's also next to an upscale sushi restaurant that I imagine would be quite nice.
