Each of the 5 styles (Shaolin, Praying Mantis, Wing Chun Gung, Tai Chi Chuan, and Pa Kua Chang) are deadly in the hands of a Master, and as each one has its objectives, the strengths can be slightly different, but used with maximum advantage. I mean, dead is dead, right.
However, that being said, the "kung fu" employed by my mother was devastating. It was called, "One Shoe Style!" Efficient and brutal when applied to the back of the head!
Hugh.G.Rection:
Reminds me of my old math teacher, he could swerve a blackboard rubber (yes I am that old) round three people and still hit you on the forehead. Was a bloody good teacher though, (mind you that was in 1975ish).
The Style is only as good as the practitioner. If you are all thumbs in Kung Fu, you will get your hiney kicked by a "common pub-brawler".
my favorite is crow bar from back of ute (pick-up truck)
only thing better is 9mm from under jacket
I believe San Soo Kung Fu to be one of the most lethal and effective fighting arts ever.
I have always feared the "Auntie with 2 live chickens" style. Those old broads can swing the chickens like nunchucks and then squeeze out deadly eggs like mortars if you try to run away.
I'm starting to think that Kung Fu only works against Chinese people. A Shaolin Master went to the US to fight in UFC or something and was knocked out in something like 2 rounds. What started out as a propaganda move by the Chinese sports organizations turned into a humiliation and most news of it was hushed up.
Sometime's bound to have said it already, but it's got to be the Glasgow 'Fuk Yoo!' head fighting style.
The style that involves the throwing of heavy and deadly objects, whilst the thrower is well hidden. It invariably results in the subject of the attack calling out "Which kung fu that?"
Kung Fu is all about discipline and training. As a combat form, it's not the most effective. Put ANY kung fu master up against a skilled practitioner of Krav Maga... One was developed as a training method, the other was developed to KILL PEOPLE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
Kung Fu is fun to watch, but it does not seem like a practical fighting style. More like dance moves.
