I try to stay up to date with a few shows. I like feeling like im not completely disconnected.
Game of thrones of course.
Walking Dead
Vikings
Saturday Night Live
I like John stewart for political news and the new show
Last week tonight with John Oliver is a great watch.
And CNN in the mornings.
Some of the shows i have with minimal delay with my cable package and i use torrents for the rest.
How about you guys? Any suggestions?
Ok fine ...guilty pleasure... Im obsessed with the challenge and the bachelor. Something about their complete lack of self awareness is amazing to me. ....dont tell anyone.
chinese censors just shut off big bang theory, so now you have to use torrents,
recommend you check out "chemistry" and "horseplayers", something different than police detective genres that are everywhere.

Never heard of either of those shows. Ill do some google research before committing any time. But thanks!
I love that I'm not a TV addict in China, when my GF comes over the first thing she does is turn it on and she's gone. I live rural in Canada and actually hate that TV is so addictive but there isn't much else to do. I'll watch movies but not much commercial TV. By the time the commercials are over I can't remember what show I was watching. I like sitcoms and lately watch ''Rules Of Engagements''. I love the digs and come backs, but hey thats me. Any series like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, I don't watch because I would need to keep up.
On a side note, I had a woman in Philippines ask me if we really have zombies.
ambivalentmace:
canada has a couple of good shows i watch occasionally, artic air ran for 3 seasons, and a new show continuum about vancouver in the year 2075 with corporate ownership of the city after the government bankrupts
Wow, you and I have the same list minus SNL and the news shows, and those guilty pleasures which will go unmentioned . My gf is well trained by now to know that Monday is either Game of Thrones or Walking Dead night, depending on which one is in season. While I was in the US this last time, I blasted through the first 3 seasons of Justified....probably go hunting for the 4th/5th seasons a bit later. I'm also up to date on Arrow....something about comic book heroes and good looking girls
Everything is done via torrents...except for that Justified run, those DVD's were cheap enough at Walmart for me not to bother.
mike695ca:
Ive heard about justified a whole lot lately, ill guess ill have to check it out. Arrow? .... Im not so sure haha
ambivalentmace:
if you like justified, you might like Givens in the tv series "deadwood" on a torrent, ran on Hbo or showtime, forget which one for 3 years. western goldrush western series. lots of profanity, violence and sex, my 3 favorite vices.
mike695ca:
a yes, I have already downloaded all three seasons of deadwood. I just havent got around to it yet. Ill get to it!
mike695ca:
Thanks for the Deadwood suggestion! Just finished the first season! Pretty good!
Never really a TV person but I do torrent 'Hannibal' because I like to keep my cooking and social skills current.
mike695ca:
oddly enough, they have Hannibal on my cable package here. Generally i have stayed away from the Network shows like Blacklist as I have limited time to watch, but it does look interesting.......
Sinobear:
Three-quarters of the first season was fantastic but they went into overkill winding up the season. Season two is hard to watch because it's more eye-candy than suspense.
mike695ca:
That sounds perfect for me, I usually will give a show a few episodes and if im not hooked, ill drop it. So if the first 3/4ths of the first season are great im in!
It took me 3 tries to watch breaking bad. The first half of the first season was too slow, I kept quitting. Also why I havent watched The Wire.
I use tvchaosuk.com. You can get all the previous nights' brit tv. Love it.
Mad Men, just because I see parallels in 1960s USA and 2010s China.
Game of Thrones, but she needs to cross the sea with her dragons already.
Breaking Bad, but that is over now.
mike695ca:
haha very true, GOT is getting a little slow. Everyone has seen it, we all know the characters, we do not need introductions all around, again! But I have faith. It will get good soon.
I like The Walking Dead and Vikings too. Did watch Big Bang Theory but the Chinese banned it for being to popular so who knows. I'm sure Walking Dead will be banned soon too. Back to torrents I guess. Blacklist is....ok. Raising Hope is not bad for a laugh. And of course Modern Family.
I tried TheDailyShow and ColbertReport, but they just don't stream well enough yet. When I firsty arrived in China, they wouldn't load at all. Now, I can jointly watch a 20-minute episode of each, but it takes an agonizing 90 minutes to do so. That includes all the reloads and the 5-consecutive-commercial sessions I have to sit through.
I'm catching up on movie releases with torrent downloads now. That's nice, at least.
