Q: Why are they willing to lie, but won't invest the time/energy to make it a good lie?

If a company wants to lie during an audit or inspection, then why aren't they willing to improve said lie when fallacies are presented that would get them easily caught?  Or even worse why do they spend more money to halfway do something and bribe the inspector to not look too close, than it would cost to actually do it to begin with?

Because they are stupid and careless about other things.

what is high quality in China?  Why would the quality of lying be any different?

The average IQ is 100. Half are below and many of those own a business.

Because they think they can get away with it.  It's not that they are that stupid, it's that they really think everyone is stupider than them.
Our factory has a big audit next month by our customer (very big) and I am terrified the they will find a way to f*!k it up royally.

Like everything else in China, it is quantity over quality every time.

To really understand why you would have to "adquire" a Chinese way of thinking within your mind.

In China, eveything evolves around "FACE".  You lie to keep face, you hear lies to keep face, you even offer a bribe to keep face, and accept one for the same reasons.  Now, all involved knows it is a lie.  But no one says a thing, because of "face".  So, there is no need to make a lie elaborate, or fool proof, or able to withstand close scrutiny as we may do.

It is their way, it bears no relationship to degree of stupidity, lazziness or lack of brains.  It is "FACE", a concept we Westeners do not have.

I'll never understand how telling an outright lie gives you face, while admitting a mistake or apologizing doesn't.

Admitting a mistake or giving an apology shows weakness because it admits to being wrong. I can see how they can make the correlation between lying and saving face. Now I'm scared.

I just had a really great idea.. I'll start a school for liars. I can BS anybody. I love putting people on. Now if I taught my skills to others?, there are rules too , like never confess,  think fast, think faster. How to make the impossible sound probable. As an added feature I could teach come backs and maybe fun with insults.

DaBen, you have to teach them that the best lies are entertaining, full of life, drama, comedy, romance... something.

For instance, don't tell me your uncle died and you can't make it to class. Tell me your uncle, while attending clown college, was working on the engine of the clown car and it caught on fire. When he opened the door to let his 30 classmates out of the car, the door accidently slammed on his head, his left eye popped out and, while trying to retrieve his runaway eye, he fell forward, the gear shift plunging through his chest. His classmates pulled him out of the burning car, gear shift and all. When they tried to give him mouth to mouth, they forgot he was a Picaso clown, and his lips were painted on around his... (keeping it clean) belly button and they were blowing air into the wrong hole. Needless to say, they weren't able to revive him and he passed away. So, Professor Lisa, I am not able to attend your class this afternoon and will miss that exam that I have been preparing for for weeks, months even.

Now THAT'S how you tell a lie, dammit!!!

I had way too much sugar today.

DaBen:

You almost had me convinced you shouldn't have to take the exam until you are emotionally ready.... but then I remembered that all clown cars are automatic. No gear shift, no buring clown, no dead uncle.... better luck taking the exam next year.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
