Q: Why do FT's continue to say other FT's are not qualified to teach in China?

Just noticing more and more recently that it seems every FT says "There are so many FT's here that aren't qualified to teach."  blah blah blah.

Granted I agree.  But continuing to magnify this point only puts you me in harms way.  If parents hear this news I feel they would be more likely to check on you and they would be concerned with whether or not YOU yourself are qualified.  Additionally, like I said I agree many are not qualified, HOWEVER, when you look at the level of most students learning "How are you?" and "What color do you like?" well you have to admit, you don't need much in terms of qualifications to teach that.

Just curious what is your opinion about this?

It is ridiculous, for some posters 'psychotic', constant repeat of 'how bad somebody is', and 'how good I am'. What is the real reason for such posts?

Can Chinese Schools value and judge level of your English? Do students in China require 'high level' of English? Should English teachers in China be 'top educated' teachers?

If so, who in Chinese Schools or Training centers is able to judge and value that?

There is a bunch of self righteous Native speakers here, who suffer from 'low Chinese appreciation at their work', so 'let's come here', and belittle some Non-native English teachers instead.

Native English speakers here are able to deny somebody's Latin understanding, despite he is fluent Italian speaker. Huuhaaa!

This is an example of an unqualified teacher. I think it answers the original question.

considering the pay for foreign teachers compared to other countries, you get what you pay for and i dont begrudge a ft for not being the best. education has a cost benefit, the chinese government could be getting the better teacher that go to korea or japan, but you have to pay for them.
however , some ft here are more dedicated than others and not so motivated by money and do have a condescending attitude but i just ignore them.

Schools specify their requirements. If you meet the particular school's requirements technically you're qualified for that job.

Some schools hire the teachers with 10 years of IELTS experience while others hire the white 20 year old degreeless person. Who are you to judge a school's choice?

This same, tired old topic comes up regularly. Which particular posts are you referring to?

I agree with you though. They should check the qualifications more thoroughly. For my part, twice I have had to provide qualifications, references and criminal history check when teaching Australian partner programs. It's not a problem in the slightest.

What's the name of your newest 'construction'? 'Australian crawl' or 'I lie often'?

Some cats they can, can they?

angelina8:

That cat isn't Russian, it's Macedonian. We're special...

When the owner talked to his cat, he said "You dirty scumbag".

Regards, a Macedonian non-native cat.

I didn't clearly understand, what he was saying to a cat. I called 'non- native cat' as pun to some Native English posters here.

I know, I got your point.

Dirty scumbag is a translation of what he said in Macedonian when the cat opened the last door.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
