Q: Why do so many people choose not to remove hairy moles on face?

I always figured that some of the guys, especially the older crowd, didn't really care, but even some of the women, young too, choose to keep hairy moles. Any particular explanation for this? Is this another 'male pinky nail' case?

It's because if you remove the mole it can have serious side effects. Removing of the mole you have to really be careful. It's not as easy as it looks. You can't just go to the local guy and ask them to do it. To get it surgically and correctly removed would cost a lot of money and risks would be involved.

This always bugs me too. I've seen people with 10 cm hairs hanging off their moles. Why wouldn't you make even a tiny effort to make it look a little better. Not going to bring the girls flocking when you look like that.

First, removing a mole in todays medical world is a painless, quick process.  It can be burned out with a laser beam and a small subcutaneous injection of novocaine at a very reasonable cost.  I had 6 removed from my chest and back not too long ago, cost me 110 Rmb for the whole thing.  And done in less than 15 minutes, no pain at all.
Larger moles (those behond a nickel size) may require surgery to remove, but it is also done as out patient status.  A local anesthetic injected, then mole cut off, and maybe stiches applied if needed.  In larger, black looking ones, a lab test to determine id cancerous will be required.  But again, it is less painful than a tooth cavity, and done rather quick.

And now I am just saying something I have no idea if  it is true or not, but in the land of males without facial hair, maybe the few strands growing out of a face mole for some is a welcome sight, even if for others is disgusting.  Who knows, who cares as long as it is not me ?

Who knows, I bet there should be a reason such as "if the hair is growing out from the mole is because it is healthy and body needs it, so no need to cut it"

I've seen all kind of people, young, old, male, female, different socioeconomic status.

There must be a reason for them to keep something that looks so scary and disgusting.

It's not an attractive look, I agree. I heard it was a health thing, but as Happy ExPat pointed out.........38 weeks ago.........that should no longer be an issue. So yeh, get it sorted, it's rank.

Den, you are right, it is superstition. Some Chinese consider the long hair to be lucky. Don't ask me why, I have no idea.

My sister has a close, long time friend who is an incredibly beautiful, fair skinned Filipina girl in her early twenties.  She could easily be a model or actress and I'm serious everyone turns when she walks by.  She is also very, very sweet.   She has a large mole on her check like the one Liz Taylor had only it's larger.  Even though it's larger and noticeable I think it qualifies as a beauty mark because of it's shape and location.  The thing is her mole is very hairy but not like those who have the stereotypical witch hairs sprouting form theirs.  The hairs on her mole are baby soft  looking and grow out and down in a perfect swirl.  They must be about an inch in length.   I've even noticed her gently stroking them on one occasion when she and my sister were sitting down watching TV..  I've never seen a woman with hairs growing from a mole that looked so soft so I assumed that was why she never wanted to tamper with them.  She's also Filipina and a lot of Filipinas have facial moles that are large and hairy.  Don't laugh but I've been so tempted to want to touch them.  I did ask my sister once why her friend left her mole hairy and she told me that she had suggested to her friend to trim the hairs so her mole would be considered a beauty mark  but her friend told her she was told  to leave it alone by her mother so they wouldn't grow back longer and course.   My sister suggested she just continue to trim them so they never grew out long again but she didn't want to because she said her mole is on her cheek and it  would feel rough and not soft anymore.  She also did say, like the Chinese believe, it's good luck to have long hair growing from ones mole.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
