Because China is going down the tube, as simple as that.  Another way to put this is, you pay for what you get, China.  You know what you did in the past......

The sinking doesn't start this year, it is crystal clear even in Jan. 2016. The depreciation of rmb doesn't help export which keeps on falling. Normally this should help but the fact that it doesn't tells you things are seriously wrong. This article gives you more details.

I'm starting to consider leaving as well, wifey already has a resident card for Germany and there is not much holding us here. Doing consultancy means I can work from pretty much anywhere, I already have a long list of clients. And I was smart enough not to buy any physical assets (apartment, etc...) in China. Yup, not many reasons to stay here these days.

Because everyone is getting nervous about what is happening in the world and don't want to commit to anything till the shit settles

I don't think everyone is really back to work quite yet. It may take a little longer, you need to be patient. Also, with that is going on in the world right now... international companies may not be hiring until they are certain various world leaders won't mess up their business.

I have noticed allot of ads from training schools. 40 hours a week jobs for 10 to 15,000 rmb plus a living allowance. This along with SAFEA's guidelines will certainly put a damper on the number of applicants for ESL teaching. It used to be Gov't schools offered the lowest pay per hour for the salary and benefits pkg. Now it seems to be the opposite. And many recruiters are offering the same packages they offered 5 years ago. I had a discussion with my nephews and nieces who are in university now. Many of their classmates were thinking of getting some experience in China. But with the low wages and huge risks, many have thought twice.

In addition to this discussion, one of you have touched upon SAFEA's guidelines

With the authentication process well underway now and every other province gearing up for April, it has caused a sudden halt in employment.

A huge majority of foreigners in China are working on fake documents, in addition organizations have been given no clear guidelines aswell as the HOW to achieve them. For the time being, China is really going down the pan however I suspect in the future, foreigners will benefit as we get rid of those who don't deserve to be here.

There are not any good job called me. I went to three interviews, those jobs aren't good enough, Among the theee, only one Chinese company showed big interest in hiring me.

The boss can pay me 10000rmb as fixed salary at my first month of learning period, from the second month on, I'll have to sell medical devices at amount of 50,000 USD Dollars a month if I want to keep the 10000rmb to be not deducted. This is only a normal sales job for international market, it won't provide a manager background on the CV as I expected. But since now I am jobless, how about I take the job or I should continue looking? I have been jobless for 2 monthes.

Blondie_:

Viki,

this is the part of your life when you as an adult you make a choice and take responsibility for your choice.

it is actually called 'being an adult' which from what i can glean from your posts, you are actually well over a 18 and therefore an adult who is responsible for your own life.

trying to palm off this decision on strangers is a typicial feature of people who play thie victim because they find it more convenient to blame others for their life choices rather than accept they made a bad decision themselves.

Learning from poor decisions and making mistakes is called 'growing-up'

no-one on this forum knows your career goals as much as you do so no-one knows if any of these jobs will bring you closer to your career goal.

sit down, evaluate each of the jobs based on your career goals and make a decision yourself.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
