At 9 pm tonight, there was a knock on my door. Two older ladies said that they had noticed a bee's nest near my air conditioner, which is next to my little balcony, and that they wanted it. I let them in because I had wished for a while that the nest wasn't there, but I thought it was a little crazy. These aren't just some little honey bees, they are giant, and probably some kind of hornet or something. The lady who went to capture it brought a jacket and pants and some kind of hat with a mesh cover, so I figured she knew what she was doing. I assume they came at night because the bees would be less alert. I tried asking what they wanted the bees for, and the answer I got was "To put them in the ah-hole." I was surprised she knew English, but I couldn't understand what she was trying to say. Anyway, the lady who tried to get the bees hurried back in a minute later, saying the nest had dropped. The other lady said not to open the door and they left. Considering that they were crawling all over the outside of my window, I wasn't planning on it. All I could think was that I hoped no one had been on the ground underneath the nest when it dropped. Can anyone tell me what they wanted it for? Food? TCM? I have no idea. I guess it will be less dangerous to put out my laundry now.

"Worm of bees" they are going to cook and eat the larva. Don't believe me? Look it up.
In Yunnan, bee larvae like nevermind said are eaten fried. Actually not too bad as insects go. I would assume to eat or for TCM as for why they wanted it.
to have free, pure honey....... what if they think it will bring some luck to their house or home some karma type of things.............
Bees are one of the greatest creatures on earth and many people underestimate or are oblivious to their importance. They are responsible for pollinating something like 60% of the world's crops and without them there'd be major food shortages. I like to think that these women realised how useful the bees can be and perhaps use them for pollinating their own plants. It's also true that honey is highly regarded in TCM, so I'm sure they're keen to extract as much honey from them as possible. Most of the honey in Chinese supermarkets is fake or watered down with some nutritionless crap like sugar water.

Like I said, these are not honey bees, they probably don't pollinate anything, and are more similar to hornets.
