Q: Will Chinese authorities accept a no criminal record check from a foreign country?

This is in  regards to the no criminal record check. I understand in most situations I am required to have one from the USA. What happens if i have not lived in the USA for over 5 years. In the last 4 years I have lived in Cambodia when i was not teaching in China. I have residency in Cambodia and it is usually where I would apply for my Z visa.

When I applied for my Z visa three years ago, the authorities wanted a criminal background check from my country of residence (which was in Southeast Asia). They did not ask for one from my country of citizenship. My SEA check was accepted. wink

I think, requirement for Non-Crim. Cert. is "it must come from your home country ...", doesn't matter where you lived last 5 or even last 20-years.

As I understand, once you are charged with crime in foreign country, they will inform your home country, so USA holds all records about committed crimes at home or abroad.

You could get detailed info about it at the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh ... You could try to email the Q through Embassy's web link ...

American Embassy should advise you on the matter also ...

Good lucky!

years ago I told PRC authorities same thing (this new CBC requirement had just come on the books),,, I told them I had not lived in US in years,,, and Had lived exclusively in china the last 'x' years,,,,  well,,, they just skipped it entirely for me.......   betcha it's a different ball of wax these days.....

Point I'm getting at is all u can do is try,,, things seem to change from Province to Province,,,, and sometimes I think it changes depending on what 'Lottery' roll u get.  By that, I mean what Official picks up your papers and what kinda mood he's in that day.....

Pick any state, county, city.  Look 'em up on the Net about how to obtain a criminal records check certification.  Fill out the form, attest under oath you lived at some address, follow the procedures, and they'll send you a certificate. Not saying to perjure yourself; yet no one is checking. The local gendarmes are only looking for your name in the criminal records data bank.  You may need some contact person on the ground to process your paperwork.

Chinese locals don't care about the details, as long as you have the necessary red chop on an official looking document to place in their file.  No one is going to dig deep to verify anything.  You could even try to list 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as your address.  On second thought, don't do that.  A criminal definitely lives there.

I think it depends, for example, if Chinese commit a crime abroad, the crime will recorded by the Public Security Bureau, so there is no way that they will apply for a no criminal record. you'd better check your own country policy.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
