Q: Will you see the big anti Japanese march?

I am mostly pro China.

But events such as this turn me off.

A massive rally, a display of military might, but only party people are allowed to see it. China daily reports that tourists must reschedule their expectations of visiting tourist spots because of it. Beijing is effectively closed.

The masses will only see it on CCTV. The people who gave the most, relegated to the spectator class.

Come on China, up your game. Give everyone equal rights. Everyone deserves to be allowed to see the parade. Agree?

Is it really an anti-japanese march or is it just a military parade on the date of the end of ww2? Of course China's military parade might be kinda indirectly directed at the Japanese but also any country in the area.

Maybe i'm wrong but I think its misleading to say it's an anti-japanese march

Ever been in Paris on bastille day? You'd think they were armed to the teeth and ready for action as well.

Effectively shutting down the airport and all major thruways from outside Beijing.

Just at the right time for when schools are asking teachers to come back.

Plot twist.... they want to cut the population by at least 10% this year, 20% the next and so on

No worries. They'll come around soon. We all know how dedicated China is to promoting equal rights.

Pro-China doesn't mean that one has to hate Japan.

This is something that most Chinese have a hard time understanding. I do like China, otherwise I would not be here, but I also like Japan.

My girlfriend is Chinese and she absolutely love everything Japanese, she is so much into cosplay, anime, manga, ... and doesn't hate Japanese people at all, she is learning the language and took several trips, not for shopping but to learn more about the people and the culture. She is smart enough to know the difference between a country, its political leaders and its people.

Just because some Japanese leaders worship war criminals does not mean that the people agree with it, in fact they do not and each time one of them conservatives goes to that shrine there are large protests in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, also the political opposition has been trying to ban these visits

An no, god NO, Japanese youth who were not born during the Sino-Japanese war do not have to apologize for anything.

Shining_brow:

The idea that they 'worship war criminals' is a mis-understanding of what the shrine is actually about. One that constantly gets missed. Somewhat akin to saying Christians worship some dead guy on a cross.

I am mostly pro-China too. I'd be 100% pro China if it wasn't for that one organ between my ears.

China takes appearances very insanely seriously. If a clip from Top Gun, Godzilla or Mecha-anime is more senstational than real life, Chinese state-run media will use it in official broadcasts.
China will have another military display, to add to previous footage. The live stuff will be mixed with the most 'perfect' displays of previous years, and they don't want people to see what the real parade looks like. Th CCP image will not tolerate disappointments, screwups or blunders of any kind.

That's what makes the story of China's success so powerful - it is so divorced from reality, that being successful is no longer required!
