Q: Anyone Chinese (or know someone) who got a travel visa to America?

Does anyone know anyone or any Chinese people on the site that have visited America on a travel visa?  Not a student, fiancee or work visa.  If so what was the process and requirements?  Did you go through an agency?  Thanks in advance.

I have looked into it but was told the Chinese person has to own a home here in China, show evidence of a job that pays well and being in a relationship with a Chinese person is preferable.  Is that all true?  Any ways around getting a travel visa if you dont own a home?   How do all these young wealthy Chinese travel to America that don't yet own a home and don't live with their parents?

I tried to get a tourist visa for my girl friend. I put money in her bank account, but she was turned down, Visa office was not satisfied that she would return to China.

One of her friends has a good job as an interpreter, owns a house and car, has money in the bank and got a visa easily. You need strong reasons to return to China. The immigrate it is easier if you have alot of money to invest overseas.

Why not just marry her first? EDIT: D'oh. Forgot about all those horror stories with Canadians bringing home their wives, and all that stuff you posted before. Sorry!

TedDBayer:

It's true. Canadian governement passed a law because this was so common, that the spouse has to stay with the sponsor for 2 years. Women were leaving husbands they were married to for 12 years at the airport. There are Chinese websites telling women how to get around this, easy claim abuse, get out of the marriage and be put up by the Canadian government, sue husband, no stay with hubby 2 years. I would have married her actually that was plan B, but that got screwed up. long story and one I can't find any humour in..

A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
