Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: Chinese spyware only from browsing Chinese websites?
Not much of a techie...
I only browse Chinese sites, never download any Chinese applications or programs. Exactly how at risk am I from getting my computer infested with Chinese spyware only if I browse Chinese websites (I do have accounts on a few). I'm still a little ignorant of how bad/common/serious Chinese spyware is here, and how to avoid them.
Anyone know any good add-ons or ways of avoiding these issues (not going on Chinese websites is not an option).

From your writing of your question, I feel you are not aware that when you browse the Internet, you are in fact downloading onto your computer any site you visit, and those will remain stored in your temporary files until you delete them. Thus, if any site has malware or whatever in it, you have it in your computer.
I do browse the Internet a lot, but I do have "certain" protections. Yes, with Windows you have Windows Defender and the firewall, you have to make sure it is on. But I also do have a few other programs to keep me clean and safe. And they ae free. I do have AVG spyware protection, and it does work, if I visit a site with malware in it, AVG stops the download and moves malware to a virus vault where it can be deleted safely.
I also have another program called CCleaner, also free, and before I turn off computer I use it to remove all files, history, etc from it, and also checks my Register and corrects any problems that may develop there.
May I suggest to try to do the same ?. How often you do a disc clean up?.
I second AVG, I like it a lot. It warns me about sites and even checks me incoming emails for me. I almost found it too intrusive such as replacing my homepage with the AVG search rather than google (not sure how to change it back, even when in the options my homepage is set to google.com)
