I get pissed off at the cost of the 3 main sizes in Star Bucks.
Y31 small, Y34 medium, Y36 Large.
I can't drink a lot of coffee, so I just want a small simple coffee, but always get caught up with this fact: "3 or 5 yuan" more will get me a huge size, why waste the chance? So when I think like this I really realize that the cost of a small coffee in Star Bucks is a rip off.
I think this is a deliberate strategy from the clever marketing people at Star Bucks. The relationship between the price you pay and the production cost is not that different from small to large, for a product like this, staff salaries and rent is a big part for the price you pay (and of course the brand name)
Not sure this is a Star Bucks China problem, Star Bucks can be expensive and unfairly priced everywhere.
i was amazed that the large venti brew coffee was cheaper in hawaii than jinan china,
23 rmb here for venti , 2.27 dollars in hawaii, whatever the market will pay i suppose.
its not only with starbucks.
i can buy here a niurou mian for 15 rmb (big one) the small one is 14 rmb, so who actually buys the small one? I did it ones and found out there is not even a difference in size lol
After paying 40 kuai for a coffee that was much worst than Starbucks (and that doesn't say a lot), I actually got a new-found respect for the chain. The coffee of the day is quite affordable (but disgusting) when in emergency need of caffeine. By and large though I agree that it is too expensive.

that's just like me I need an emergency coffee sometimes with really good caffeine.
I feel ripped off by anything in China when it comes to size!
That said, I rarely go to Star bucks, it's just too expensive for me.. If I do treat myself, I usually buy the smallest size.
Anyone in China who pays more than 10-to-20 kuai for a cup of coffee in a cafe is a fool. Point blank.
I don't even go to Starfucks back in the States or anywhere else in the world for that matter. Why should I go to Starfucks in China when I know they're a huge rip-off (1) in the States and (2) an even bigger rip-off in China?
To all you Starfucks fans: Are you out of your minds? Why are you so effin' amazed by the outlandish prices? Get a grip.
I don't go to Starbucks for the reasons stated previously: over-priced, size and the terrible flavour of the drinks served
ironman510:
It kind of reminded me of the iPhone, just for show, but not with a lot if useful features.
Has anyone ever been to Starbucks and enjoyed the coffee. Anytime I've been I've always thought I could make a far better cup at home.
What really pees me off though is that they stole the name from Moby Dick and completely abused and manipulated the impact of the novel for countless people. The image of Starbuck the man is forever tainted now by overpriced foul tasting filth.
ironman510:
I can't spell, but I'll try, I love the caramel "frapachino" blended cream with coffee, everything else is junk.
I've never been to a Starbucks at home, I know they are expensive. Why also disappoint myself by going to one in China. It's only coffee. I can live on tea but I brought my own.
TedDBayer:
I actually don't like Timmys, always fresh because we bring them in frozen, they need to change the motto. And the selection is next to nothing now. Donuts used to be cheap cause they are, not worth $1.
now some journalists have compared Starbucks prices
Twice in a life time have been to Starbucks..Once in Zurich as a Chilean friend insisted to have a coffee there. Back in China, in Chengdu 2 years ago. I have had no option as I was bit early to the german consulate there and the startbucks was just at ground floor...Damn!! Just for a cup of coffee i felt like I have to sell my house. But seeing the people, I reached to the point to ponder "why corruption is so rampant in this country. Chain of reaction with all these flashy capitalism in core."
Less than For the price of a cup of Coffee at starbucks, I could buy 250g ground coffee from the market and I can make myself at home..
