By this, I mean, do you get leave which you can take as and when you want?
My school is trying to limit said leave to a period of three days maximum. I get ten days leave per year. They are also stating that it will be unpaid.

For Training Center, I would say it is normal, they won't grant you any leave, and if they will, it will be unpaid.
At Public Schools, there is nothing in it about 'leave'. We have 3 months holidays per year (School is closed), for what I'll get half of the salary in each month.
If your contract says 10 days paid leave, they should pay it. If not, contact your local SAFEA. I have usually found them to be helpful, as long as everything is in order.
what is SAFEA?
