Because they are useless for the intended purpose, and besides I do not have bad breath....
yes, but Zhuhai doesn't have that many days with extremely high levels of crap in the air. I will keep the used filters for show and tell to the locals. They all think I am stupid as shit, until I ask who is walking around with the black stuff in their lungs.... such discussions are usually rounded of with the comforting fact that drinking warm water cleans the lungs
Because I smoke, so that seems silly.

You are giving yourself a double dose, not good, charcoal mask and quit smoking which is dumb anyway.
nzteacher80:
Just smoke Marlboro lights instead of regulars - it'll even out
Because, I don't want to look like bank robber.
When my students stick their masks on, I usually comment: ''Lucky us, 'cause banks are closed already........''

They 'regular' ones - the ones you can buy anywhere - are useless and do not filter out enough of the pollutants, if at all any!.
I'm forced to wear a mask almost every day in my city b/c the PM 2.5 level is chronically high. Got up to 600 the other day, and I still saw Chinese guys walking around with cigarettes dangling from their mouths. The stupidity I witness on a daily basis never ceases to amaze me. I buy my masks off Taobao.
Yes of course I wear one after checking AQ for the days . Above 100 I wear it
The pollution in many Chinese cities is appalling. A mask containing activated charcoal is needed to to combat photo chemical smog. A gas mask, a painters mask with charcoal anything else is useless.
