Q: Don't Chinese girls know that it is bad etiquette to cross their legs when sitting in public

what is the first thing a Chinese girl does when she sits in public? She crosses her legs. Bad etiquette according to the queens etiquette advisors. Evidently it draws attention to the fact that she is covering something up. So girls should always sit with their knees together? Franck3

Better etiquette than sitting spread eagle in a miniskirt.

Franck3, are you blind, or just stupid? Pretty much everywhere in China, you'll see a plethora dumb young girls sitting like I described. My point was that it'd be much better if those girls crossed their legs. Virtually nobody in today's world considers crossed legs to be "bad etiquette". Monarchs are the last remnants of a bygone era where genes determined social status. Notice how your question got 9 downvotes and 0 upvotes. Take it as a sign that you're doing something wrong.

I don't think British etiquette rules apply in China. If politely crossing legs is a problem, I suppose the spitting, farting and public urination must cause unbearable stress.

bayuvar139:

Exactly!!!! why should China again adhere to British rules they had to do this long enough and, the Queen means nothing to them.

It's fine - even in London, where I'm from, the rule doesn't apply so much anymore . Good on the girl for crossing her legs and respecting herself.

That doesn't sound like bad etiquette to me. I do it all the time and so do many people I know who are from all over the place.

maybe your people should become more civilized.

They wouldn't have to cross them if it weren't for you looking, Frank.

In what country? America? Everyone crosses their legs in America. I do it to avoid people gazing upon the foreign penis when I wear shorts. In China, all the women complain about me crossing my le——OH!!! OH! *moment of clarity*

Who cares what the Queen thinks.? Take all those grandiose ideals and Royalty and remove them. No real purpose in life. Those ideals mainly apply to the Queen, who would want to peek?

Franck3:

But the American public can't get enough of the Brit royalty. They looked upon the Kennedy's as royalty. Why I have no idea. Joe Kennedy made his money running booze so they make him ambassador to England.

I'm from America and it's very normal for girls to cross their legs.... infact I've always thought that that was proper etiquette.

Just a good example of how different countries have different cultures and standards, what you think is normal in the UK doesn't appear to be normal in the rest of the world and in many cases it's the opposite.

They spit, piss and shit in public on the streets and you picked up on "they cross their legs"?  Seriously?!?!  Of all the things you could say about Chinese etiquette (or lack of), your issue is with the way they cross their legs?

This just proves your a crazy troll.  And what's with signing your name at the end? We know who posted it, your name and avatar are at the side. xunliang

Are you sure you're not a wumao, Franck3? I mean seriously, the only people who complain about anyone crossing their legs are Chinese people, lol. Combined with being born after World War 11, I gotta wonder if there's something funny about you. Hulk

Maybe she would not have the need to cross her legs if you were not leering at her?

You may want to try to be more subtle. Sunglasses help...

Franck3:

You people are so stupid. What have I got to do with the Queens etiquette? I just stated that girls crossing their legs is bad etiquette according to the queens advisors. You all seem to miss the point. No one is talking about me looking up a girls skirt. Just as I expected. Franck3

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
