what is the first thing a Chinese girl does when she sits in public? She crosses her legs. Bad etiquette according to the queens etiquette advisors. Evidently it draws attention to the fact that she is covering something up. So girls should always sit with their knees together? Franck3

My point was that it'd be much better if those girls crossed their legs. Virtually nobody in today's world considers crossed legs to be "bad etiquette". I don't think British etiquette rules apply in China. If politely crossing legs is a problem, I suppose the spitting, farting and public urination must cause unbearable stress.

I'm from America and it's very normal for girls to cross their legs.... infact I've always thought that that was proper etiquette.
Just a good example of how different countries have different cultures and standards, what you think is normal in the UK doesn't appear to be normal in the rest of the world and in many cases it's the opposite.
