Personally since coming to China my health has improved, diet, healthy routines, and being happy doing what I do has improved my health. And the fact i have lost over 75 pounds since arriving in China is a big help. But i have developed acute asthma when the pollution index is too high. give some , gain some.

my first year here, no. but after that crazy year my health has gotten much better. i think all the health scares scared me straight. i exercise routinely now, refuse to eat questionable food... which in china means you cook at home much much more. and for some reason i drink absurd amounts of water now... as for the pollution, it does worry me. i try to stay indoors when the air quality is bad. china has made me more aware of my environment, which in turn has lead me to become more healthy. as for you losing 75 pounds since being here, i think from my own personal experiences, that is mainly caused by the huge change in diet and less than ideal bowel movements we get here.
My diet is much better now. Eating more vegetables, no fried foods, and my wife cooks for me at home and uses little oil or salt. I also drink absurd amounts of hot water, eat fruit daily, and snack less. Plus with all the walking and climbing stairs my activity level has increased. Have not lost more than 10 pounds here but have maintained weight. I also worry about the pollution and this month have had nasty cough and flu like symptoms off and on all month. So I worry about that. My wife and I do not want to raise kids here for fear of their internal health but we will bring the healthy diet back home to the states with us,
I was living in Vietnam for 2 years before my 3 years in China. The switch to Vietnamese food was a big improvement: lost all my excess fat, skin got better, hair and nails grew noticeably faster. China made me a bit fatter, and in winter, skin is not good at all (pollution, I have a condition very dependent on it) and my throat is always a bit raspy. Some bad stress due to the traffic and general amount of uncivil behavior.
Improved a lot. Was down to 205lbs in China. That was huge for me. It's just that my lungs took a beating. I miss China, damn.
You can not be serious with this question, right ?
Just new in China ? Hell... open the window and tell me if it is air you are breathing ...
Nessquick:
Okay, now I read you compete post. yeah, the pollution is big shit here.
For loosing weight.. it is common for almost every newcomer to china. after 1 year, you wil see the yoyo efect in work...
Paulberger:
or maybe he doesn't breath air... did you think about that?!?
didnt improve and didnt get worse .....thankfully i am always healthy
Probably improved looking at present status.. But in China I have to be very disciplined with what I eat.... "A properly washed apple a day, keeps the laduzi at bay" I probably move a lot more.
Not having a car probably helps. The nearest busstop is one kilometer away.
And then there is the pollution. Some days I feel like I had just chain smoked 5 cigarettes from just having walked a bit around the hood. I am sure this will cause problems later in life if the exposure continues.
Improved. Got worse at first but now that I'm used to the air I feel good all the time.
First year was good. Lost a few kilos, joined a gym, worked a stress-free, 20-hr-a-week job to which I could walk from home and back. Ate lots of rice and noodles yet didn't gain the weight back. Felt pretty good.
Then the shit hit the fan.
Took on a high-stress, high-paying 40-hr-a-week job, long daily commute, started drinking at night, smoking at every turn (was an ex-smoker), stopped going to the gym. Health took a nose dive. To this day still diving.
Can't say I blame China. Only myself to blame.
Do I have a choice? Yeah.
Not drastic effect on my health. Though slightly deteriorated. Got my health report two weeks back and some things changed within last 6 months (prior to December, I had health check up around July). Eye sights are little bit weak. Gained 2 kg and also got triglyceride in my blood (around 10% increase) because of saturated/animal fat and alcohol. Age and computer are two factors for eyesight so China is not to blame. After the blood report I noticed my alcohol consumption was higher and so the pork meat. Anyway, I am back on my feet. I am off the alcohol starting new year. Just like before coming to China, alcohol is consumed only on Friday and Saturdays if i have to go out with friends or attend group dinners. Not going to consume any pork meat at home. limited only to outside as I mostly eat at home. And in such way i am hoping to reduce TG and get my health back.
In a way, I would say health in China is affected by only 20%. Except eyesight and wrinkled skin I am determined to get back rest.
