I will be going to Guangzhou on Monday and I have one appointment. I have read the FAQ part of the website over and over and I still can’t figure out if I need two appointments or can this be done in just one appointment? Do they notarize it and everything else all in one appointment? Does it have to be translated? I will register the marriage in Wuhan can I get it translated there? Thanks

A short follow on question, to vent and get this active. What is the purpose to the American Consulate in Wuhan? It does basically nothing for Americans. Is there a Chinese Consulate in America that doesn’t help Chinese?
Hulk:
The U.S. Consulate / Embassy system often looks like a joke in China, and seems to mostly serve the interests of the U.S. government.
You probably can only do this in Guangzhou. I did it there.
Just fill the information out, and make sure you write down your wife's hometown. Ask if they need her current town, or her hometown. If you make a mistake, they have extra copies.
Then, you just swear that the information is true. Take it downstairs, about one level, there's a translation office. Get it translated and stamped by them. It's about 50 RMB. I did the same.
Finally, take it to the marriage place and marry her.

So, it can all be done in one appointment? There is still a time slot open before my appointment so if needed I can still make two.
Another add on question - How long is this certificate good for? We may not get married until after the 1st of the year there won't be a problem with that will there?
I am Canadian and got mine in Guangzhou at the Canadian consulate n Sept. All i needed was my passport and a photo copy of my fiance's id card. The clerk just asked me to swear under oath that I was single and then signed and stamped a piece of paper, only took five minutes. As for translating you may have to ask the local marriage office in Wuhan if their is a specific location where u have to go to get it translated because I had to get it translated in Nanning when getting married in Guanxi as some offices only accept translated documents from certain notaries
When i married my wife i had to go to Beijing , swear my oath , then send her the documents to have them translated. Once all things were translated and done , she took them to the clerks office to double check everything. Then once that was done and i arrived we had our license in less that 30 min. Just make sure you have everything done properly.
