I was recently given a cashmere scarf at a dinner ceremony by a client at my job. How can I tell if this scarf is real cashmere or not? Of course, it says "100% real cashmere" on the label, but that doesn't really convince me. Are there any tests I can do to check?
These are some answers among others:
- Feel the cashmere on your chin as it is most sensitive part of skin. Does it Itch? If it itches, then definitly its not pure cashmere
- Make sure Cashmere doesn't shine like silk. As pure cashmere doesn't shine like silk. The products which shine are definitly made by mixing silk with cashmere
Cashmere is wool fiber, so it is organic, if you were to take one thread of it and burn it, it will leave off same smell as to hair, then it will turn to ash same as hair, so maybe you can try with one of your hair first to study it.
If it were made of imitation polymer, of substitute plastic, then it will have the same reaction when burned as to thread 100% polyester, ie it will become a small ball of plastic....here too maybe I suggest to test and see for a better understanding.
