Q: How to get your china criminal history check when not in china?

I returned  home to the uk some time ago since before covid. I'm applying for a job in uk that needs a 5 year criminal record history. Since part of this time was in china I need to verify my history. In other countries it seems this can be done online and sent by email. However when I look for information about this, I can only see one way of getting it, go to the local psb and ask for it. Since I'm not in china, going to china and dealing with covid issues, would be impossible. The other thing I read is that I could get a trusted friend who is in china could go and get it. However the psb office said they didn't know anything about this even though it says this online. They are not aware of their own policies and procedures I think. Though it could be there is something in place I just haven't seen. Has anybody had this issue?

have you asked your local Chinese embassy how to manage this?

as you point out, you are obcioulsy not going back to China to get this.
I was in the same situation when I returned, but work in a country where this is not asked unless it is for specific limited (government) jobs, not your average job in private industry.

I have even worked on contract for a government organisation was was not asked.
But as I work in the EU, asking this would be in breach of GDPR.
