Q: How much is the cost of the accommodation when entering China due to the restrictions?

I haven't been able to find recent information on the costs I have to bear if I want to return to China, it seems I still need to stay in quarantine once I arrive at the airport (my destination is Shanghai). Does anyone know?

best ask your employer.

you could be put in any kind of accomodation / hotel.

your employer would be better placed to find this out and advise you.

How much is the hotel's cost for 14-days stay in China?

Before Covid scare, foreigner should find hotel with gov. authorisation to house laowai. In China, you won't / you weren't able to book into any hotel as a foreigner.

In Beijing, you better go for illegal housing 'cause hotels with laowai authorisation are all 5-stars hotels.

For required 14-days quarantine at the entry to China, there are dedicated hotels usually not far away from the entry airport. You'll most likely get free shuttle ride as soon as you clear Customs control ..

I think, I read report of somebody here a month or so ago on cost for quarantine hotel was around 3000 Rmb per person, but I am not certain about that number.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
