Who owns the rights to video I record in China. Lets say I go to a recording of Happy Camp in Changsha. I record 30 seconds of the hosts on stage doing whatever it is they do, just talking, no artists performing or anything. Can I put that on YouKu freely because I recorded it thus I own the rights to it?

I think you are the only one in China worrying about video IP rights. I wouldn't give it a thought and just record whatever you like. Have you ever watched the government news channels? They will always blatantly steal video from other sources and simply blur out the logos and other identifying information.

I am pretty sure you are right. Just wondering if there was actually laws around this, having been here a while I am aware that enforcing laws does not happen in many cases
After 20 years, someone is actually writing and doing something about this, better late than never I suppose.

Another rich fool has his shit stolen by the Chinese, another sucker born everyday, it seems after 30 years of this crap some people would know better.

Typical Chinese scumbaggery ... on corporate level.
You can invest money in China only if you possess wand with 'destroy everything I built in 60 sec.' ...
Normal, western ways of foreign investments everybody will get 'raped' in China ...
