Unfortunately I moved into an apartment with cockroaches (unknowingly) in Beijing. I try to keep everything very clean and the food is only in the fridge. Unfortunately, however, the whole compound is very dirty and certainly all my neighbors will have the same problem. I signed the contract for a year (3 months have passed) but I can`t longer live in terror. Is there a way to withdraw from the contract and run away from this house?
Thank you
There is a type of poison you can buy that wipes out the whole lot of um. 10 years ago I lived in an apartment in Canada and the neighbors where really dirty and they ended up coming into my place. I used that poison and bought these things you plug in the wall. They let off this type of ultra sonic humming that humans can’t hear but keeps pets away.... and if that don’t work then I’d try to get out of the apartment.

I think that stuff is called borax. That's what was in the roach stuff I got.

For now, the agent has put a poison, but I think that it is useless and and not strong enough...I will try with this one... thank you!! My question is...Is it normal to have cockroach at home in China? or not? because I don`t understand if I`m only unlucky or not...For me it is unacceptable
daxigua:
yes, extremely common in China.
Just use that poison, it works very well indeed, and keep using it!
block those 'tubes' with a plastic bag!
chill out!

Put that roach killer stuff next to all the holes they come through. It doesn't work overnight though, what happens is they walk through it, take it back to the nest and infect the nest so it might take a while before you see any effect. You'll know it's starting to work when you see half dead roaches trying to walk across your floor.
It depends, do you think you can convince the landlord to cancel the contract AND refund your prepaid rent? I'm sure you could cancel the contract, that way the landlord could put another tenant in and collect the rent money again but I'd be surprised if you got any of your money back.
I had a place that got over run with roaches. Little feckers were everywhere, when I got home at night and turned on the light I'd see about ten run for cover, I usually managed to stomp about two or three but it didn't make any difference to the population.
Then I bought some roach bait, from Walmart I think. I don't remember the name but it will be next to the fly spray and mosquito coils etc. They walk through the stuff and carry the poison back to their nest to kill the rest of them. Worked a treat. I suggest trying that before talking to your landlord.

Sorry to hear about the experience. I hate roaches. But Chinese landlords can be very inconsiderate. Unless you specically state in the contract that you can end the contract when find another tenant, usually they won't agree. If you just leave without worrying about the deposit I think you can do that. Or try the roach drugs.
There are many fake roach products out there, if you buy the ones that don't kill all of them, slowly, they will get used to the drug. The new generations of roaches become super roaches. There is a roach product I tried in my previous apartment. it was about 10rmb for 10 small bags. You put it in the places where roaches are, they don't kill them immediately, but they die slowly. Then other roaches will eat the bodies and eventually they all die. After I tried the product, I did not see a roach for the rest of the year. I think you should try it.If you PM me I will send you the link for it, you can get it on taobao.
yeahhh,,, haha,,, but CCR (ChinaCockRoach) are just beginners. You wanna see real CR's go sit outside some shithole beer joint on a waterfront in the PI around midnight! haha,,,, Now that is Trip City! About a few hundred of the bastards,,, can't call 'em little bastards as they are huge for CR, will come dive-bombing the fk outta u! Yep,, Flyin' CockRoaches! haha,, perfect! funny as hell,,, but in truth all they want is some cold SMB and a little bit of whatever late-night grub you're scarfing down.
*note: this scenario only works when u got some street lamps goin' and close proximity to a garbage dump.. both in abundance in the PI
