I hear foreigners dont like Beijing much and like Shanghai more. Why? I feel theres nothing to see in Shanghai. Only modern and lack soul. Or maybe is it because there are more foreigners there?
I think you're pretty much right, foreigners prefer Shanghai because it's more modern. Most foreigners don't come here looking for culture, they come looking for nightlife.

that's also something strikes me coz then you hear a whole bunch of people complaining about their girlfriends they met in night club. dah... most of my friends (female) back in China don't act the way they described, and they don't go to night clubs on a regular basis! I am not saying theres absolutely no good girls there, either. but thats usually not a place to find a good wife. sure there are people who's true intention was to look for sex. but if thats what they are looking for, may be they should not be too surprised when they fond out their "sex partner" doesnt have good personality.

Haha, yeh, mayyybeee. Personally I don't think your average foreigner goes into a nightclub with the intention of finding his future bride to be, but many do come here looking for wives or girlfriends. There is a name for such people. Give me a minute while I remember what it is. Oh yes, there it is.......losers. They come her in their droves, being losers back home, but fancying themselves every girl's fantasy with their holiday cash to flash and their promise of a better life abroad; but where is the wife shop? Where do people go when they want to meet members of the opposite sex? They go clubbing. And where better to do that than Shanghai? Tadaaaaaa!
I would say that Beijing is about 10 times cooler than Shanghai. At my company, everyone wanted to work in Beijing. A few people even quit when they couldn't get a job at the Beijing School. Our Shanghai school doesn't get the same competition.
Personally, I prefer Beijing. I think maybe a lot of foreigners come to Shanghai before they know much about China. I tried to get a job near Shanghai when I first came here because I thought it would be the most modern city. Looking back, I realize that at that time I was ignorant about China.
