Giant. I had two giant mountain bikes, they were great.

The only ones in my 3rd tier town are the bright orange ones.  About 1/3+ look broken.  But still see people clicking them out, rarely seen them returned (but I have).

Funny thing in this town police discard of the rubbish ones,  I've seen it hapen several times.  You know what I haven't seen happen?  Bike lease companies send around anyone to do maintenance on them.

I reckon it is part of the business plan to have the cheapest possible bikes and spend nothing on maintenance. I'm guessing the bikes cost less than 30rmb each given the volume of the orders. Therefore it requires each bike to be "shared" only a small number of times to cover its cost. After that it's all profit. Not to mention the number of people who pay a deposit that they will never claim back.

Public shared bikes made for few rambos a piece are bad quality? Color me shocked

I am now doing a lot of walking and exercising on the urban trails and park across from my home and see these Ofo and other company bikes littered all over the landscape, thrown in bushes, on the ground, wherever. My guess is like what someone said above, that the bikes are cheaply made and after a short period of time pays for themselves, so Ofo couldn't care less if a few of their bikes go into the junk heap. 

I find the bikes to be a nuicense since they take up a lot of sidewalks, sharing space with pedestrians and other bike riders. I don't know if local or city government's care for all of this litter of dead bikes, but Ofo and the other companies need to be responsible for them, and I do see them periodically going around in trucks to pick them up. In Hangzhou, there is about five of these companies doing this now. I have never ridden one, but not a bad concept except for dead bikes in bushes and streets.

Thanks for the reply guys. I now switched to Mobike. Very hard to ride sometimes but a much less broken rate.
