Q: Retiring in China

I have done some searching about retiring in China and have found some information saying that a 5 or 10 year visa are options but stuggling to find what the exact requirements are for either. Would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction for the answers.

Hi icnif77, I had found the travelchinaguide links but not the others so thanks. Cant search the latest for a certain reason but unlike when I search for retiring in Thailand that gives visa options and info like a pension of a certain value being needed or funds needed to be in a bank account etc. frustrating(so far) I cant find this info for China.

there is a reason there is an age limit on foreign employees in China:
China does not want retirees (unless you are super loaded)

China will be experianceing a demographic nightmare of their own making without adding non-wealthy foreigners in to the mix.

Have you asked your local Chinese embassy?
they should be your first port of call as they will have all the legal routes into China, and information on the appropriate visa - you will have to get a visa from them anyway.

I suggest u choose to retire in Malaysia. At here, you still can find China girls and China foods. Nothing different with China.

actuall yes, the major difference is that there is not the level of surveillance or control in Malaysia as there is in China - no 'social credit system' (yet)

if your main focus is Chinese girls and food, you must live a very shallow life.

China doesn't offer retirement visas for foreigners. Only way you'll get to live there for retirement is having a Chinese spouse.

I'm ignoring multi-entry business or tourist visas as they aren't currently a thing yet post Covid and that doesn't seem what you're looking for

My parents are retired and they are applying for an S-1 visa since they live here already and I work with a Chinese company.

unless you are married to a local, your parents can only stay as long as you are (legally) working there.

if you are not married to a local, once your visa expires and you exit, your parents would have to leave too.

This is not 'retiring' to China as most people would understand it, as it is contingent on your presence.

A:Yes, you can get legal ET job by the Chinese Labor law. Problem is, most Chinese managers and recruiters don't know, they can obtain Working permit for a non-native English teacher with BA completed in a native English country. I'd suggest, you mention possibility of legal employment for non-native English teacher with degree completed in a native English country at the first interview. It's a tough time in China at your example, IMO. Most recruiters and hiring managers in China know only "ET must hold a native English passport ..", so your job application get dismissed right there. The other thing is, never stop sending your CV to the job offers doesn't matter if no replies. At my time in China (pre-2017), I'd send CVs to every offer posted daily.I've even disregarded advert's requirement 'native English passport holder', and ... I got a reply or two in a month time.
