Q: Is There A Chance To Get Work If I’m An American Currently In The US?

I've been to China many times, and even had the opportunity to teach for a year when I just graduated, but I returned back to the US to get a master degree, but then COVID happened and now I've been told I may not get even looked at because of America and China relations being poor now. Any hope?

If you were a REAL poster and not an ailias acting like a bot, then you would probably have researched working in countries with fewer restictions.
The internet is great, and not only for finding out about vacuous so-called 'celebrities' who are really only self promoting narcissists.

if you have been to China before have you tried contacting former colleagues to get an on the ground view?
That would be my first port of call.

Ha Ha Ha. That is funny. You are correct that you can not get a job "easily" in China. It has nothing to do with the political relations between countries. It has everything to do with the Covid entry restrictions. Unlike America that has open borders for anyone to cross, China has maintained a closed border to maintain a zero-Covid status.

Well the borders are closed so....

An American friend who was already in China just got a new job, other American friends there haven't said anything about problems caused by China/US relations, not like they're ever great at the best of times anyway.

If and when the borders reopen, there's still an ESL industry there and we're not in WW3 or anything you can probably apply and be considered just like anyone else.

Clip Of Biden Boasting He Proposed NATO's 78-Day Airstrikes On Belgrade Goes Viral In China

China to NATO: "We will never forget who had bombed our embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. We need no lecture on justice…"

State media in Russia wrote this week while featuring the footage: "The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, reposted the footage on his social media account, reminding the current US President of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia that is estimated to have killed about 2,500 people, including 89 children." Russian officials used the clip to blast Biden over his latest description of Vladimir Putin as a "war criminal" and "thug" due to the invasion of Ukraine. It's also getting wide circulation on Chinese social media.

Chinese Embassy in Belgrade got bombed in 1999 and ZATO said it was by mistake, if I recall it right ... Chinese backhanded the event 23-years later ...

His accent or what caused a stink?

I've never tried to mimic native English accents. My main point (or trouble) at English teaching was "students had to understand my English speach ..", so I had to answer less questions ... LOL, I was always a lazy arse oriented.

In Istanbul, I was popular among the students just 'cause my English talk was clear without any accent. I've always used writing on the board whatever I said in English, also. It works golden especially with the lower English level students.

Also, I can always recognize when somebody try to speak English by mimicking any of your accents. It sounds so forced and unnatural ...

When I'll venture to NZ and Oz, I'll try with NZ accent only at my first day ... broken heart

No, I meant the US bombing the embassy caused a stink. The Chinese took it personally which is understandable but it meant that lots of white people in China at the time were 'Americans' no matter where they were from.

Ohh, yeah that was bad indeed. I've never believed ZATO's statement about mistake, but I couldn't figure it out any other more reasonable cause for the Chinese Embassy bombing.

I was thinking about Chinese arms export, but Serbs were/are also big weapons manufacturer, so that was a no-no.

Serbs also share the same religion with Ruski, (Orthodox Christians or something.. ) and they are big friendos with Ruskis, so they were and still are good at arms of any kind.

Maybe Chinese influence over that Balkan war was what irked ZATO off.

I still remember front page of US Newsweek where Serbs were posing with the shoot-down F-117 wing and note: " ... we thought, it's invisible ...".

Serbs got it down with Ruski SAM missile and until then F-117 was dubbed "invisible plane" 'cause it was undetectable by the radars in use at that time.

I was still in USA in 1999 ... in NYC.

'add-it': It was F-117, stealth, one of a kind aeroplane at that time. I searched the web for the pic where Serbs are posing with the F-117's wing on the ground and note, but it's not there anymore.

There is a joke (which explains Serbs attitude toward the western powers), when 3 dudes, American, Russian and Serb meet and discuss who has a larger pecker. After Yank and Ruski showed their sizes with hands and arms, Serb replied:

"I have to wrap mine 3-times around my belly and 3-times around my neck, and it still hangs like a tie ..."

Serbs never gave a flying fork for any of so called superpowers ...

They have a saying: "Speak Serbian and whole world will understand you!" ... LOLOL

Chinese state media outlet CCTV reported on Monday that a Boeing 737 had crashed in a mountain range in Tengxian, Guangxi, in the country’s south. Rescue efforts are currently underway.

The plane, which was carrying 133 passengers, is believed to have caught fire as the result of a malfunction. It is not yet known how many people have been injured, or if there are any fatalities.

Footage reportedly showing the downed aircraft is circulating on social media, but its veracity has not been confirmed.

China Eastern Boeing 737-800 Plane Crashes Into Mountains; 132 Feared Killed

Chinese state media said the flight was carrying 123 passengers and nine crew members.

The Global Times reported that the plane appears to have lost power during the flight, prompting it to essentially drop out of the sky as the pilot lost control of the aircraft.

Rescue operations were underway after the plane went down near Wuzhou in Guangxi. Some 588 firefighters were being sent to the scene to aid local emergency services.

A local villager who witnessed the scene of the crash told local news outlet Jimu News that the plane had disintegrated and started a fire that had burned down trees and bamboo before local firefighters arrived and extinguished most of the blaze.

One local news outlet speculated that the flight was MU5735 from Kunming to Guangzhou. The flight has reportedly not arrived at its destination and was listed in online portals as "out of reach".

"132 Feared Killed" ?

I saw the video on twatter of this nose dive. Can you imagine that?

Aaaaand, I won't be flying for a long time. Glad I resigned from my big (evil) tech role where I had to travel a lot more than I like.

WARNING!

This might made you quit buying flight tickets ...

It must be a damn near religious feeling going from being pissed off about the horrible traffic that caused you to be late for the flight - or whatever the reason for not getting on the plane was - to seeing the crash on the news.

Ohh, I wasn't thinking about that possibility ...

I had a similar experience at ridding a motorbike with my friends LTA. They were two with the motorbikes and us, two passengers. The other passenger didn't show up and I was ridding with the other biker than designated at first.

So, we were three with two motorbikes ... The biker I should join originally, had an accident shortly after we took off. They took him to the hospital all broken and what not ... and I picked up his helmet off the road, which had some 20cm lengthy dent in the middle of the front of helmet 'cause he hit some metal edge with his head.

Later on, I was thinking what would happened to me, if I'd sit behind him ... I surely wouldn't survive that crash.

I always hate when I'm late for the flight ... LOL

Aviation Experts Baffled By Crash Of China Eastern Airlines Flight MU5735

"It’s hard to get the airplane to do this."

TUE MAR 22, AT 12:00 AM

And as the world waits to learn more, here's what we know so far.

*Flight MU5735 was flying at an altitude of about 29,000 feet roughly 100 miles from its destination, about the point at which the pilots would begin the process of descending, when it started plunging at a far greater rate than normal. Instead of gradually dropping by a few thousand feet per minute, the plane began falling at more than 30,000 feet per minute within seconds, according to tracking data logged by Flightradar24.

*Flight-tracking data show that the plane dropped by 26,000 feet in the span of one minute, 35 seconds.

*In an unusual twist, the plane’s dive appeared halt for about 10 seconds, and it climbed briefly, adding an unusual twist to the scenario, before resuming the plunge. "It’s very odd," said Jeff Guzzetti, the former accident investigation chief for U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

*While there are some precedents in which passenger planes suddenly dropped from cruising altitude, most of these cases have important differences. For example, Air France Flight 447, which went down in the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, 2009, fell much slower and more erratically after speed sensors iced up and pilots became confused. All 228 people aboard that flight died.

*Another similar crash occurred on Dec. 19, 1997, when a pilot with Silk Air 737-300 carrying 104 people dove into a river in Indonesia, killing everyone on board. That plane plunged at more than 38,000 feet per minute, according to Indonesian regulators, who concluded that the pilot likely crashed the plane deliberately.

*Is that what happened in this case? Well, it's unclear. The 737-800, like most other jetliners, is designed so that it won’t normally dive at steep angles. Forcing the plane to do so would likely require an extreme effort by a pilot, or a highly unusual malfunction.

*It's possible the pilot could have suffered a heart attack or some other medical emergency and slumped onto the control column, lowering the nose.

Answers will likely be forthcoming, although we suspect, given the crash occurred in China, may not be timely. But one thing is clear: something must have gone seriously wrong for the nose of the plane to have declined at such an extreme angle.

"You need something to hold the nose down," said Benjamin Berman, a a former NTSB investigator who has experience flying 737s.

You would need a PU invitation letter that the employer needs to obtain from the Foreign Affairs bureau. It is not easy to obtain requiring many documents and three or more levels of approvals. You should first find out from your consulate or embassy if they will issue a work visa pending you having this letter. Many consulates or embassies are closed or just won't issue the visa. Most people that were successful at getting the letter are considered high talent or experienced in their field. It is also important to note the high costs of flights to come to China, the high chance of flight cancellation, and the high requirements that are set by the consulate or embassy of China to board the flight. The quarantine when you arrive is the least of the things to worry about.
