Q: What is the best Chinese airline?

Wonder what foreigners think is the best Chinese airline and why. I use Hainan airlines often, and I find the service is good and planes leave not too late.

Do you adapt to food on airlines too?

If you follow the startrax airline rating guide (global airline ranking system) Hainan Airlines are the only 5 star airline in China (Cathay Pacific HK is also a 5 star airline) meaning the highest level ranking.

the 4 star China Airlines are AIr China and China Southern while China Eastern is a 3 star airline to round out the big four.

Have to agree with Hainan as being the best though when I flew with them back to Aus one of the best flying experiences I had staff very friendly, good food, good in-flight entertainment, and comfortable seats.

The one that doesn't crash when I'm aboard?

seriously though, I fly cattle-car class and I never notice any difference in any of them (well, maybe Cubana & Aeroflot were a little different). a small seat with worn upholstery, a funny little meal that's not too bad and dry air. Just get me where I'm going and that's enuf for me.

I was really surprised flying with domestic Chinese routes... seats was always a bit more comfortable then in western lines (even if they are not new...)

Only one "not so convenient" thing happened to me. One time on the route from Hangzhou to Guangzhou plane "jumped" 3 or 4 times on touch-down.
That "kangaroo" I know in small sport planes... it is normal, but sometimes shows a little lack of pilot's skills... but never in B737 or that scale plane Smile
Happily it was not touch-and-go maneuver...

I used Haian last time, it was the cheapest yet fastest flight I've had, funny I haven't been able to get that kind of deal again.

Any airline whose total number of take offs matches it's total number of landings is by definition a good one.

Air China..

mArtiAn:

Yeh? I flew them once and as I was sat by the emergency exit before take-off a stewardess came over and said, "Excuse me, I need to tell you now that when the plane crashes you need to open the door for everyone and let them out." Hmm.

WhiteBear:

this is standard

always person seating by the emergency exit will be "trained" how to open it, and generally what to do ICE

this is because crew are seated by the main exits, and take care about that

who else should opened that door if not a person that seats by it? maybe captain himself :)

sure, You can wait for rescue team to open "owen doors" but then - You may look like dish.

i think AirChina is the best for price, service and type of plane- most domestic planes suck  but international flights i found Airchinas plane very good.

In my experience you get what you pay for.  If you use a lower class airline, outside of the big 4, then you will get what westerners would refer to a "bad service".  But I have found that my Chinese friends expect poor service so there is no demand for improvement  in these areas.

A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
