I've just done it again! Another worm in my peach - they're off my list. I'm not eating any peaches ever again. I still don't get why the pesticides here are so harmful to human being but don't actually seem to kill any insects. What filthy beasts have ruined your culinary pleasure?
I keep finding heads in my food, how am I supposed to eat when I feel sorry for the chicken?
happywanderer:
Erm you could view it a martyr chicken! It died for a great cause .
I can't eat anything with the eyes still on it. There is nothing worse than trying to eat a fish that is watching you ............
happywanderer:
Hahah, yeah that takes getting used to. Then I went through a phase of poking the eyes and opening and closing the mouth (sorry I am that immature). Now I don't even notice the head.
diverdude1:
hmmmm,, sooner or later u will be offered the eye. It is like a honor to be offered the eye.
happywanderer:
Won't worry me, I'm afraid I've eaten everything unsanitary now. Including various types of insects with and without legs. But the difference is they were cooked! I don't like wrigglers in my food...
Honestly the worst thing you can find in your food, and this happened in America, is broken glass.
rasklnik:
-It's quite common, in sit down burger joints (Red Robin, Denny's, etc.) where a glass shatters in the kitchen, and goes all over. Many of these places stack the dishes next to the stove tops, so the cooks can serve from the pan to plate. Problem is when something breaks.
-Many restaurants use plastic glasses now, not because they are just cheap and light, but so much safer...
Does a piece of plastic baked into my pizza at Pizza Hut count? I almost swallowed it.
Nessquick:
You have to post on weibo, friend. How can we believe you now ?
Chicken feet
Thank you, I'll be here all week...
slice_999_k:
Yes - this was the worst for me. I dont like feet at the best of times, especially when it's trying to sneak into my rice. Go home feet!
A whole chicken head in a pot of dry hotpot. I accidently grabbed it with my chopsticks while fishing around for a chunk of meat and almost fell off my chair when I saw it.
So far, the worst thing has been a live cockroach in soy sauce dip provided by a jiaozi (dumpling) restaurant. An American friend who is a teacher bought some food from his university campus canteen and found a cigarette butt in it.
I once found a pube in my suan la tang. And there also was one time I was eating spaghetti at a Wagas in Shanghai and munched into what could've been either a finger nail or toe nail.
Someone really likes chicken feet, huh! Three thumbs down in an hour is my record
I would worry more about what disgusting things they are passing off as food
happywanderer:
That's a good point. Perhaps I should view a worm or two as a healthy protein snack. Get into the post-apocalyptic mind set. It can't be as bad as melamine.
I'm more worried about things I can't find in my food. Who knows what nasty chemical cocktails are in my food.
roasted dog with the head :( fried bees ...yuuukkkk
happywanderer:
Haha, I haven't seen a roasted dog head before, nice one! I've eaten dog but... what did they do with the head then?
rabiya1102:
i dont know why the head was there.. but it was HORRIBLE. It was the headmaster that invited us to have dinner. As i entered the dog's head was there.. i returned home after seeing that..
happywanderer:
I'm sorry rabiya but that made me laugh. Unfortunately that may of even been complimentary to you - the headmaster I mean. Difficult I know.
Isan serves big fried cockroaches. or something just like a cockroach.
I wish somebody could explain the easy-ass way to post pics here !
common to serve rat in asia. hey, poor people in Louisiana eat nutria,, which I understand is just a big rat....
happywanderer:
Make an account on a site like photobucket.com and upload your pic - then you can link to it from here. You can't just upload from your hard drive - there's a thread on this somewhere on echinacities... But rat! Dude.
TedDBayer:
you should be able to copy and post anything that is shown in ''images''
It's the things I can't identify or the things I don't know I'm eating that scares me.
this is the wrong question it would be easier to answer if u would ask what havnt u found
Maggots on, and in, my broccoli after I had ate some
