It's because Chinese never want to go home. Almost every country on Earth is, quite unfortunately, much better than China, and there are too many Chinese looking for a way out, rather than changing their own country

Academically, they should be banned, I mean Chinese degrees should not be accepted outside of China, especially Graduate Degrees. Yesterday, third school, I was told to pass students who never showed up to class, and did no work. "It is school policy " , I was told. This is what schools are in China. People with this kind of ethics / morals should not be allowed to ruin other countries.

philbravery:

maybe we need to publish a register of these schools so other teachers can stay clear of them

in most cases, the rule of law actually means the rule of law, not just when a camera is watching, the west does not want to have to teach the rule of law to someone who thinks cheating and copying are "no problem".

royceH:

Yeah yeah...Law.  A massive joke here.  Not real.

My money stolen from school....

Me; "Call the police!"

Them;  "A misunderstanding.  No problem."

Fact; money stolen.

Upshot;  Bad luck laowei.

Fallout;  I get drunk, and lose a little more respect for this 'developing country'.

Chinese are not forbidden to go in Western countries. For instance, a lot of young Chinese study in Western countries. Some settle down there, enough of them to occupy whole district of cities. Some become mayors of towns. So, no, Chinese are not banned at all.

However, a Chinese citizen need a visa to go to a Western country, and such a visa is given under many conditions. You can check this for yourself on embassy websites. For a tourist visa, the conditions boils down to "show us that you will leave the country and go back to China'. So they will check that you have good reasons to go back to China, like, a job, a family, assets, etc... Illegal immigration from China is a several decades old problem. So, well, many countries popular for Chinese migrants double checks visa applications. Ask people in Guangzhou about African migrants, it will give you an idea of what people think of illegal Chinese migrants abroad.

For permanent immigration, the conditions to get residency permit is pretty much the same thing for anybody, no matter the country.

Victoria1987:

When I said forbidden,I mean it has a  lot of conditions,it is almost like forbidden for most Chinese ppl.Westerners are quite easy to get a visa to come to China,no matter they got many assets or not.it makes hard for Chinese ppl,I talked to Taiwanese, they told they can go to Europe easilly.

When you write "forbidden", I understand "forbidden" :p Yes, there are lots
of conditions for a Chinese citizen to get a visa. I think (personal opinion)
life conditions are way better than China in Western countries. Better
education system, better social system, etc. So it's very attractive to
Chinese citizen, to leave China and never go back. So some barriers are put to avoid a massive influx of Chinese migrants. Taiwan is smaller, and life conditions
are close to those of Western countries, so there is no danger of a massive
influx of migrants.
Now, there is no massive influx of Westerners to China. Compared to how much Chinese leave China, it's a very very small number. Also, the number of Westerners is microscopic compared to the local population. Most of them leave at some point. So there's no point putting lots of restrictions for them.

there are also a lot of restrictions for foreigners to come to china "legally"

the whole reason why so many foreigners are here on wrong visas etc. is because the chinese are too stupid to obey the rules and laws.

so grab your own nose it is your own fault

DrMonkey:

@dom87 Compared to what Chinese have to face to get just a tourist visa, getting a tourist visa to China is a piece of cake. When bringing my wife (at that time, my gf) for 2 weeks in Europe, policemen were waiting for her at the exit of the plane. Just for her, personally. She had a valid visa, a job in China and a return ticket... Her "mistake" was to be a generic Chinese citizen not traveling with a tour. The policemen not-so-kindly reminded her to go back to China. That's quite a cold welcome, she never forgot this. If it's not fear of immigrants (justified or not, I don't discuss that point here), what it is !

As for getting a work permit visa to China, it's on the same level as other places I checked. It used to be easier, Chinese gouv. simply starts to be serious about its own immigration laws. If you ask me, that's an improvement.

Forbidden is not correct, "Restricted" would be a better word. It is because the Chinese authorities generally try to tell the Chinese people that China is the best place in the world, and the rest of the world is awful. This is not actually the case, so if every Chinese person went abroad, the illusion would break.

Those who do go abroad mostly do so in tour groups, where they are on a preplanned route, and cannot explore on their own, and would be very unlikely to actually communicate with people in the country they visit. (of course the government is also limiting the language skills among people so if they had the chance to interact with others, they wouldn't be able to)

All countries have immigration policies, some very strict, some not so strict. But generally there will be a certain set of requirements that must be fulfilled. For my wife to go with me to my country, she is required a written statement from her employer that she is allowed to leave. You can guess why this is the case, either from the Chinese side it is desired to control who applies for visas, or from my country's side, there's been too many cases of people simply leaving everything without warning, to escape to the rich, clean and safe west.

If you ever go to "western countries", you will be shocked, unless you are blind and deaf.

Victoria1987:

You got me wrong,I never throught I am lower than men.Otherwise I won't brought a ticket and came to Shanghai alone on 2010 on my first tour to explore the rest world out of my province and come here for hunting expat guys no matter if ppl think I am weird or not. Many ppl questioned me why I like European looking men,I simply told I just feel I like, and I followed my feeling to make it true,For my sisters,I am quite brave and full of spirt of liberation.I tried to explore the history and the voice of this city and I got shocked by the muliticultural architecture and the voice of the old shanghai.well,I feel I improve myself a lot since I moved to this city.I like this city not just because here has many expat guys,it has a compliacted history inside I like to read and explore.I want to make my next tour to explore a western country by my own,I feel it might be a very big party ahead.

@Vic1987. Now you are limiting yourself. "But the only limitation is I am young single woman hasn't have a lot of assets to go" You should leave the word "woman" out of this. In the west, women and men have the same privileges (well, mostly, men cannot have children so us men are somewhat less privileged)

The Chinese culture has tought you to be "less" because you are a woman. Then once in a while there is BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, that now a woman has also blah blah blah, e.g. the woman that went to space. Big whoop. We've had women bus drivers in the west since the invention of the bus. Actually the very first person in the world to use a motorized vehicle to go between two different cities was a woman.

My thinking was visa conditions and costs are mirrored country to country. If it is hard and expensive for a person from say Columbia to come to China, then it is equally as hard for a person from China to go to Columbia. When changing my work visa to a tourist visa recently I had to show I had $100 in my bank account for each day I wanted to stay in China. It's not that easy to spend $100 a day in China. Plus after I had been working legally for three years, I found it strange that they wouldn't offer me anything more than a 30 day visa. I was flatout refused anything longer.

It's funny that you think it's easy for westerners to come to China easily. For us africans the make it so difficult. and I know that Americans have to pay the most for Visas because it's so difficult for Chinese to go to the States.

Forbidden.... Right... There just soooo few Chinese people outside of China it's a blessing if you ever get to see one, right guys? Right...
I mean, non-Chinese people just have to say "Hey I'm from [country]" and the doors to China open up, with a red carpet and a complementary list of privileges to abuse, right guys? Right...

That's a question for the Chinese government.  Why is it so hard for a Chinese citizen to get a visa to go outside the country?

The Chinese government issue passports, not visas. Visas are issued by consulates and ambassies of respective countries, to their pure discretion.

Chinese not being able to get visas easily for the civilised world might have to do with number, and manners. But what do I know.

Actually the government do prevent people in traveling. Many employees in government institutions do not have their own passport, it is kept by their employer and they only get to use it once or twice per year.

alot of reasons are mixed in. racism is one of them. the west, generally prevents most of the third world from going in the west visa free. even their own puppets (ie philipines) are not given visa free access, which should make the puppets rethink their alliance. i think a better question is, why are Chinese wanting to go to the west, despite the racism? western regimes want to portray themselves as prestigious, and therefore want to keep Chinese out. it's kind of like a night club that only allows vip into it, but really it's all in their head what a vip is. well i guess if western regimes let everyone in, then it loses some of its prestige, but really prestige is all in your head. it may have something to do with the China refusing to kowtow to the west. the west is also threatened by those who are superior to them. i really think that western countries are overated. theyre expensive, the people are generally unfriendly, violent, arrogant, and intolerant. well, i mean you can tell from the attitudes of the white guys on this forum how westerners are. i want to ask anyone that is mentally sane, why would you want to go to an entire country full racists like "scandanavian". if youre a person of colour, you should ask yourself, why should i pay top dollar to be treated as a second class citizen? youre better off going to the third world, where you are respected.

People from the Philippines have a much easier time of getting in America than Chinese, and I know quite a few of them here in the U.S. It's just that America is generally harder to get into due to homeland security reasons.

It should be more restricted than it is. you have to see the way of behaving of chinese tourists overseas, yelling, no respecting rules or locals in public places etc, and sure. Chinese really need foreigners so it is different question, we even earn more money than the local chinese working here

TMaster:

Some hotels in Thailand got smart and now reserve entire floors to their Chinese guests, so they don't disturb the other clients.

Reminds me of family reunions : we give the kids their own table so adults can enjoy being adults.

Ashita76, Sure chinese are a lot but most of Chinese overseas are earning the same or less than the locals. Foreigners in China are earning more than average or even the double of the locals and the social status of the foreigners in China in most circumstances is higher than chinese, that is the image of chinese people specially with americans and europeans. you have a lot of evidences, but for instance chinese are crazy about wearing the american flag in their clothes, giving a special status to America. I am spanish and i see everyday people wearing the spanish flag even more than in Spain.

Chinese in my country are 100,000.  Mexicans in China are in the 1,000s.  This comparison is miniscule, but compared to the numbers of Chinese in the countries of certain expats- why do Chinese complain of so many foreigners in China?  One good example would be Canada. Millions of Chinese live in Canada, and how many Canadians live in China?

China has the right to write the rules as to who comes in and out of their borders, but they have to be aware of reciprocity.

I would advise Victoria that in the future the Chinese populace will have less and less visa restrictions as their wallets get bigger and bigger.
