I know that in Chinese culture, women can't wear spaghetti-strap shirts because that would be considered sexy. Is it too "sexy" if a guy takes off his shirt, or is it just inconvenient for them? I don't know about you, but I think it looks silly, and I just had to say something.
the summer at home, I will take off my shirt, outside the behavior of your shirt is very impolite,
some people took off his shirt because they on behavior and quality defects.
actually the Chinese also hate these people
Ah, the Beijing Bikini...
I've heard a lot of reasons such as it has something to do with the flow of Qi, but this is the best response I've heard:
"The habit is actually a sort of compromise to the custom of men going totally shirtless. A Chinese medicine doctor told the Los Angeles Times, ‘People chose to expose their belly because they feel so hot in summer but feel embarrassed to take off their shirts completely.’ "
Same reason they carry purses, or worry about fashion, or have tantrums about "face", or wear pink, or fish for compliments.
Chinese guys apparently believe that their "inner being" resides in their belly. That's why they feed and water it, let it grow, nurture it. The belly is where their internal fire resides. On a hot day this area needs cooling down, needs exposure, hence the rolling up of the shirt. If the belly is cool all is well with the world!
compared to the other behaviors this is very mild, many people here do not have an understanding good hygienic or sanitary habits especially when it comes to protecting others from your germs. there are reasons why you dont sit on the bus shirtless it is yo help limit the spread of disease.
