Food and drink from anywhere and everywhere... O Lucky Man!
In truth, I wouldn't have a clue how to go about using one.
Why don't the authorities stimulate the local economy by offering incentives to have sanitary toilets installed everywhere? And as a matter of urgency!
that's pretty awesome. i'm awestruck. my first week here, the food was to much for my stomach and i was forced to use one... i remember that moment very very vididly..
That's great, I thought I was doing well two and a half years and not used one yet. The closest I ever got was on a trip where we stopped at a village and I thought I wanted to go. Went to the the "toilet", really just an open channel with holes in a plank of wood above it, the smell was so awful it instantly stopped any requirement to use it.
Four years without using one, I only hope I can emulate your greatness!!!

In fact I'm still 3 months short of 4 years. Good grief...hope I haven't put the mocca on myself!
I am at 3 years total stay in China. I think it is more than 2 years since I've used one. The area's of town I usually go to I have all the proper toilets mapped in memory, and I have focused on regular bowel movements so the business is always done at the same time of day.
More than that, other than when staying in a hotel, I've only ever used my toilet at home. No need (yet) for ducking into the local 4 star hotel.
This may well be the one and only aspect of my life over which I truly am the master!

Must be the Aussie in us. I'm getting there mate. I'm at 2 years and 11 months without using one.
It's all about being regular!
I used to be a wicketkeeper playing cricket and I'm thinking...that's the posture!

Hey Derek, check out 'Adam Gilchrist'. I reckon he's as good as any there's ever been.
ps...Good to see you getting amongst the runs...Michael Clarke style.
I caved and had to use the squatter sometime last year but what the hell.............................................................I "had a good run!"
If you can get past the first couple months, there's a chance to avoid them. It gives you time to scout out your environs and plan accordingly. I, unfortunately, made use of them three times in my first few months. None since.
Sounds dangerous, i'd get some practise in if I were you, sooner or later you're going to get caught short and have to bite the bullet. It's better to fall in the loo when you live just around the corner than when you're 100 miles out in some motorway garage with no change of clothes and a bus-load of strangers waiting to complain that you smell like piss.
Many Chinese do not even know how to use a 'western' toilet. I have seen guys to squat on top of the seat. Really, no clue!
