As it's pretty hot now, I want to throw on my fave pair of khakis. However, the last time I wore them they got dirty almost immediately, whether it was from sitting on a bus, the subway, or even brushing past someone on the street. It seems that such clothes, as well as whites in general, are just not suitable for wearing here due to the dirt. Anyone else have the same frustrations? Any way around it?
There is no way around this. I have a little white on my shoes, but the color is mostly black. The white part can get dirty immediately I agree. The only thing you can do is keep cleaning it, but you can't avoid it, it will always get dirty.
Marks Work Warehouse in Canada used to advertise khaikis that repelled dirt and wrinkles. I buy thinner denim jeans in China. I do not see jeans like these at home. Some last. The first pair I bought had a rip in them before I walked a block in them. I never wear white any where. When its hot I wear shorts, the shorter the better. Patterned shirt tend to hide stains.
White really sucks in China, I wanted a metalic red scooter, never got past the first white one as GF liked it. Its always dirty looking, if it gets wet, black stains.
NiceBrice:
I agree with the patterned shirt tip. I do this all the time in the summer, regardless of country.
As for white, I've been wearing a pair of white canvas converse shoes for a while here. To get out the dirtiness, I soaked them in my sink with hot water and bleach for a while and then washed them. They're still marked up a bit, but really F-ing white now.
Not sure you want to do that with khakis though.
TedDBayer:
But some bed sheet with red in them and wash your khakis in the load. They'll look good as new.
Remain spotless by wrapping yourself in clingfilm. (This helpful answer was brought to you by... the idiot in the corner .)
