Q: Any tips for dealing with an alcoholic Chinese boss.
You can't leave the job because you have invested too much time and effort. You are otherwise respected and liked at your job. Your Chinese boss, however, is a serious alcoholic -- comes to work drunk 3 -4 times a week, often does not come to work, screams and abuses staff when drunk, is difficult, cantankerous, irrational at best, cannot be counted on except minimally, etc., etc.. How would you react with these givens in such a situation? You tried your best but no approach seems to have worked. Your ideas, please.

How is the company structure. Does the boss have a boss?
Does he drive drunk? I would report him anonymously to the police if that is possible.
Why did you spend so much time and effort working for a company run by someone like this? Your efforts are obviously just funding his habits. In China, you probably can't do that much to change the situation. It might well be wise to cut your losses and get out.
Your options are dependent on what you wish to achieve.
Do you want to get rid of your boss or do you want him / her to find a cure.
If it's the former, you need to collect evidence, video based would be great, and hand it to his / her boss. If it's the latter, nothing can even begin to happen until he / she admits he / she has a problem, perhaps some videos of what he / she is doing when drunk may help, but I doubt it.
Why I don not find such kind of boss..i always drink with my money..
Tell him to his face "DUde, get out of my face your breath smells alcohol"!! ANd when I was in the military my boss came in to work with alcohol on his breath....I didn't want to tell him that because you know in the military and all, but I gestured to him with my reaction when he got close to me that his breath was reaking of the alcohol he either drank that morning or had an excess of amount the night before.
